Can someone help me find a plane and/or a helicopter for ds please?

Ds has said he wants an aeroplane and a helicopter, but that he'd ask Farmer (sic) Christmas for it. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a plane or helicopter (or both) suitable for a 2-3 year old? Fisher Price used to do one a million years ago when I was a youngster, but I can't seem to find one.

DS has [[http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3491922/Trail/searchtext%3EHELICOPTER.htm this one] and has asked for this for Christmas.

Very well made, and DS gets a lot of imaginative play out of the helicopter

this is nice but possibly too old

playmobil plane

He might grow out of this too quickly

elc age 1-3

elc have some other ones that you build yourself age from 3

on offer in debenhams

The playmobile plane is ridiculously large IME. My 18month old has the elc one which is very cute but maybe a bit too young for a 2-3 year old

I got my nephew the Fisher Price Little People one, from Littlewoods online

There are some good codes knocking around as well if you have the nerve.

Agree about the PLaymobil one being v large, although there is a smaller one in Tescos at the moment that looks good. The DS's also have a Playmobil helicopter which has been a firm favourite, think I got it from TK Maxx a few years ago, but places like The Entertainer should have some.

Playmobil plane and helicopter are fab, but more suitable for 3 years plus imo. The helicopter in particular is very fiddly and tricky for little hands. We have both and 3.6yo ds1 plays happily with them but my 21mo destroys them and gets very frustrated that he can't make the blades spin, use the hoist thing, etc (we have a lot of tantrums over all this ).

John Lewis do a plane that is a bit like the Fisher Price ones but looks a little less babyish, I think. Perhaps more suitable for a 2 than 3 yo though.

The Playmobil Helicopter we have is very bog standard, nothing comes off, just the pilot's helmet. No fiddly bits like normal playmobil, v sturdy.
We've had it since the boys were 4 and 2 and it is still played with.

How about Seaplane?

Says suitable from age 3, but is out of stock

Ours was obviously an end of range cheapy, no pulleys etc.

mysteryfairy · 18/11/2009 17:43

smaller playmobil

The seaplane looks good... not too many bits ds can pull off and break. Shame about that helicopter being out of stock lizzy, that looks great!

There is a chad valley aeroplane in Argos. My 3 year old nephew has it and plays with it for ages.

Have bought this for DS 21m - build-your-own plane and helicopter. Looks pretty sturdy and similar to the ELC one linked to above.

Fisher Price Imaginex helicopter. I've bought DS2 one for christmas. It's quite big and chunky, perfect for a 2/3 year old and no nasty tiny little bits.
