I have an 8 year old boy. He want a camera, a Nerf gun, a Premier League football, a Matchattax tin, and the new Cressida Cowell audio book. And the Match Annual.

Any help?

am planning on adding some chocolate and possibly match attax (although I hate them)

my ds also mainly just wants lego star wars!
And ds games (he may get ONE), a remote control helicopter, and 'chocolate and sweets'.
I am also going to get him some books, art and craft stuff, and maybe something sciencey.

dearprudence · 17/11/2009 22:36

Mine is 7, and wants the new SuperMario Bros game for Wii, Operation, Connect 4x4, Yahtzee, Match Attax bag, Fernando Torres Hundred Club Card , Etch-a-Sketch, Monopoly City, craft things (paperoni, spongi, etc), Beano Annuals. He has a Nerf gun (basic model) but wants a better one. He won't be getting it! Some of this will come from Santa, and some from relatives.

He always gets two pairs of pyjamas, and this year may get a duvet cover as well.

What about other stuff for his room - lamp, bookends, bean bag, etc?

There's a lot of lego games around, but I've not played one so don't know how good they are - seem a bit pricey to me.

georgeclooneyfan · 17/11/2009 22:38

Thanks for all your suggestions. I was just looking at a science experiment set he may like he is collecting the match attax as well it seems to be all the rage just now. He did mention the Guiness Book of Records or the Simpsons Annual as well. He is into the Horrible Histories books but between him and his sister they seem to have most of them.

my ds is 7, he doesnt ask 4 anything just harry potter but it is soooo hard to buy new harry potter things as it has mainly all been discontinued , we have picked up a couple of potter items on ebay he is also getting a netbook,lego,games {frustration,connect 4,monopoly etc}wheres wally books, horrid henry books,dvds and ds/wii games..... oh and a kids electric toothbrush {he always requests one at xmas !!!}
we always put 4-5 packs of match attax cards in his stocking he loves it .

Saltire · 18/11/2009 08:32

Both my boys (now 11 and 9) love the Guiness Book of records,a dn any similar type of "facts and figures" books. DS2, however he wants lego lego and more lego. I don't mind as he plays for hours with it.

brimfull · 18/11/2009 08:40

what are these match attax things you speak of?

ds is 7 and I have no idea what to get him

em83 · 18/11/2009 08:49

match attax is a premier league football trading card game ,they come out every year,
my son doesnt like to play the game ,he just likes to collect the cards and put them in the match attax binder
cards cost 50p a packet and binders are £4.99
just a novelty thing really...
my dp has told my son for the past 2 year that if he collects all the cards and stores them out of the way as to not damage them in years to come they will be worth a fortune lol

girlsyearapart · 18/11/2009 08:55

match attax are football cards (not sure if they're stickers too?) you collect them. I bought my nephew them from Borders bookshop last xmas but they were hard to track down! Maybe easier this year.

My nephews like- joke shop stuff, a camera, books, ds games, horrible histories books, clothes..

I've bought one nephew (8) some clothes and a Science Museum kit which lets you do an experiment where a potato can become a clock from Boots.

The other similar age lives in Australia so haven't quite worked it out yet but he always wants Haribos - you can't get them in his part of Oz!

girlsyearapart · 18/11/2009 08:59

Oh yeah also if you can get over the whole murder thing he loved Cluedo on holiday.

DrNortherner · 18/11/2009 08:59

My ds is 7 and is geting soem armed forces toys (soldiers/tanks etc), guiness book of records, rubiks cube and some jacqueline wilson books.

What is a nerf gun please?

Saltire · 18/11/2009 09:05

If I ever find the person who invented Match Attax cards, I'll string them up from the nearest lampost and throw rotten fruit at them

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 18/11/2009 09:06

A laptop.

cherrymonster · 18/11/2009 09:21

ben 10 stuff- the new ultimate omnitrix, a few figures and a ben 10 alien force fleece blanket. ice age 3 on dvd, my mum has bought him some transformers, and my sister has got him a wwe wrestling ring with figures. oh, and my brther has got him one of the new lego games.

Ingles2 · 18/11/2009 09:29

ds2 is 8
he wants Lego agents, My sims agents for the ds and books on agents! (can you tell he wants to be a secret agent )
He'll also be getting various books, audio cds and science stuff.
He's not into football at all, it's DS1 who is Match Attax crazy. There are piles dotted around my house ready for swapping

Marioandluigi · 18/11/2009 10:13
