How do I make a 'star' costume?

Please?!

DS is a star in his Reception nativity play and he has to wear a long-sleeved, ankle length YELLOW tunic, with gold tinsel round his neck.

Which you would think answers the question really. But how can I buy make such a tunic?!

I can sew a bit but I'm lazy no expert.

Any ideas much appreciated!

Id say a Yellow pillow case with a hole cut out for the head and arms but that wouldnt cover the arms and probably wouldnt be long enough.

What a mans yellow shirt? Could tack it in at the sides to make a better fit and roll the sleeves up or cut them.

Otherwise its a make your own with yellow fabric. Using a long sleeved top he owns as template, just making it longer to ankle length.

Shame you cant buy a costume as Tesco's had some Black outfits with a big shiny gold star on it.

cant you just find an adult sized, yellow t shirt and put that on him?

Can you buy an adult long-sleaved t-shirt in the right colour and use that? Cut the sleaves off a bit if too long?

I'm thinking a slim-fitting long-bodied woman's one from H&M/Tesco or similar, so it would be a bit closer fitting than a standard mens one.

Shame it has to be this style as my local tesco are selling actual star costumes this year...

Yy yellow woman's T shirt - Primark had some today which were about £3-4 IIRC in all sorts of colours.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will have a trek around the shops tomorrow for a yellow top, and if I can't find one, I'll try a pillow case.
I've seen some actual star costumes as well, they look really good! But we have our instructions!!

Thanks everybody. Really appreciated. Doesn't seem quite so daunting now.
