I think I want a new kitchen appliance for Christmas, but I can't think what. Tell me what you've got and love.

I have:

Kenwood mixer
Magimix
Cuisinart slow cooker
Dualit toaster
George Foreman grill
Smoothie maker
Magimix ice cream maker
Hand held blender thingy
Deep fat fryer
Pasta machine

Can you think of anything else that I must have?

how many of them do you actually use?

Earlybird · 15/11/2009 19:52

Don't have any of these, but friends who do, swear by them:

Pressure cooker
Bread maker
Rice cooker

bristols · 15/11/2009 19:56

Agree about rice cooker and bread maker. I use mine lots. Is really lovely to make some soup and a loaf of bread all from scratch. Yummmm

giddykipper · 15/11/2009 20:25

I have a breadmaker, I forgot that one.

They all get used apart from the pasta machine. Kenwood rarely, but everything else fairly regularly.

Is a rice maker really useful?

PLEASE don;t ask for a kitchen appliance for christmas. It's so...utilitarian .Get thee down to Jo malone and get a fancy candle or summit

bobbyboboo · 15/11/2009 20:29

What about a coffee machine, Im torn between the Tassimo or the Krups or a good filter machine?

giddykipper · 15/11/2009 20:30

But Cybil I'm quite tight thrifty. I hate spending money on frippery.

Don't really drink coffee, I like a nice pot of tea with a china cup.

giddykipper - you have a Kenwood mixer, Magimix and a smoothie maker? Surely that's overkill!!

I was given one of those silly dog-looking Dolce Gusto coffee makers for my birthday. Despised the adverts and thought I'd despise the item - but I love it!

blithedance · 15/11/2009 20:33

With all that sounds like you need a cupboard to put them in!

Have you got a DAB radio? I'd happily have one in every room.

blithedance · 15/11/2009 20:38

Oh, just thought

What I am fancying kitchen wise this Christmas is...

Set of Emma Bridgewater cake tins ("Toast" I think)

or Set of Joseph Joseph nesting bowls/colanders, the bigger the better.

Wolfcub · 15/11/2009 20:42

hmm, not sure there is a kitchen gadget you need. I was going to suggest a dualit stealth mixer or a dualit handblender but you seem to have those areas covered. Don't bother with a rice cooker. Unless you eat a hell of a lot of rice and are really crap at cooking it there seems to be very little point.
What about a sauteuse pan? I would absolutely kill for one but they are at least 75 for a good one.

CybilLiberty · 15/11/2009 20:45

If my dh gave me kitchen stuff for Christmas I would batter him over the head with it

MistletoeNoelPresents · 15/11/2009 20:46

We have a microwave rice cooker and no natter the type of rice we use it is always superb.

displayuntilbestbefore · 15/11/2009 20:48

ooh, I love getting kitchen stuff! Love useful attractive things! However, I don't have that many gizmos and gadgets but agree with blithedance that a DAB radio in the kitchen is a great idea.

PlumpRumpSoggyBaps · 15/11/2009 20:49

I'd quite like a raclette thingy....but otherwise you should definitely get a candy floss maker.

I have one and it's ace.

magicOC · 15/11/2009 20:55

I would love a panini toater.

Agree also with the radio idea, have one at work and love it when busy in the kitchen

magicOC · 15/11/2009 20:57

toaster obviousl

giddykipper · 15/11/2009 21:00

I love cooking Cybil, it's a hobby.

I have just bought a DAB radion for the kitchen.

Fancy pans sounds like a good idea. My pans are very utilitarian.

Or perhaps a lovely set of baking trays and cake tins.

I saw a hot water tap in a magazine recently but can't remember what it's called.

It looks like a normal modern sink tap but it also dispenses water at any temperature between 45-95 degrees.

I want one.

Wolfcub · 15/11/2009 21:03

giddykipper · 15/11/2009 21:11
