Presents for teens - up to about £15?

Yes, I know they would rather have the cash/vouchers, and yes, I do that on their birthdays. But chez Farquhar cash is deemed insufficiently festive, so I want something I can wrap.

I don't feel confident buying clothes any more as they are very specific in what they don't like

DVD? My DD loved it when she was given the Michael McIntyre DVD - very funny. Lots of comedians have a DVD out now for Christmas.

Celeb book?

For the girl - jewellery, Boots, Next, Supermarkets all do a nice range now. Normally goes down well.

Voucher for a cinema trip and a selection box?

Purse / wallet for about a tenner with a fiver inside?

smelly stuff goes down well for both sexes.

My 16 yr old ds and his mates are very into Anchorman, a t shirt with a slogan from the film? Something 'Twilightly' and equivelent for the girl?

u can type in recipient, and there nture e.g couch potato, atheletic etc and it brings up lots of ideas, have used in myself its quite reasonably priced aswll xx

thanks all. Was considering Russell Howard DVD for Boy. Not my cup of tea, but thought seemed sufficiently laddish.

The interim years between presents from ELC and presents from Threshers are definitely the most awkward.

I'm not keen on vouchers for Christmas though.

My 14 year old dd wrote her 'letter to Father Christmas' last night and it has, amongst other more expensive and silly things, the following on it:

• perfume - Boots do a set of Ted Baker minatures for 15 squid in their 3 for 2 - but I got dd the Kate Moss Vintage set;
• necklace from Accessorise
• earrings
• mascara (maybe Maybeline Big Lash?) and eyeshadow (maybe Bourgois?)
• Starbucks card or gingerbread syrup
• DVDs - she wants Twilight, Shopaholic and the new Harry Potter - I think a DVD plus popcorn, hot choc, a mug and marshmallows might be a nice gift idea

Oh yes one of those Boots perfume miniature selection box things (with 5 tiny bottles of different perfumes) are fab for teenage girls - my mum got me one one year, I loved them because I never went out often enough to justify buying a big bottle of perfume.

Art or craft stuff is always fun if you think they'd go for that.

Poster/something else merchandisey of their favourite band/film/sports team.

Some kind of season ticket or discount thing, maybe for a cinema? Not sure how much they cost.

Chocolate, maybe a nice hot chocolate kit with marshmallows, some coffee syrup, a nice mug, Green & Black's hot chocolate mix.

Probably slightly the wrong ages, but the year me and my sister were due to do GCSEs/A Levels, my auntie made us up an "Exam revision survival kit" - it had fun shaped post it notes, some fun pens, a mini notebook, little photo frame (the kind which is a crocodile clip on a wire pointing upwards) to hold revision notes, packet of biscuits and probably some other stuff I have forgotten, maybe mini highlighters? On their own the contents would have been a bit rubbish but all together in a box with "Exam Survival Kit" written on it it was a really nice thought and fun to open.

Oh I like the exam survival kit a lot. Might do that for dd1 - mainly because I'm a stationery whore and love post-it notes etc!
