11 and 9 year old boys?

I have finished shopping for 5 yr old dd, it's such a doddle buying pretty things for her.

But boys are a different matter They have both got into warhammer, so are getting this for their main presents, but the 11yr old, particularly, it at a really difficult stage to buy for - I have thought of cool t-shirts, book on Porches(he is sports car obsessed), Alex Rider books, some music.

I'd love to get him a TOY! He has a remote control car, is getting a bit fed up with lego, etc.

What do your boys love?

Thanks

My 11 year old DS has the 'Minotaur' lego game, which is pretty good. You can make it into a real game of strategy. I am thinking of getting him another lego game. Anthony Horowitz stories on CD from 'The Book People' website - I think it was 14.99. A great big poster for their wall ?

For 11 year old boys, tis time for i-pods, phones, and laptops

VerityBrulee · 14/11/2009 22:53

He got a phone last year, I was a bit but actually he has had lots of fun with it, mostly for music/games/photos/videos rather than calls or texts.

He would love an i-pod touch (so would I) but he is only 11, I would love to get him a toy as well as the technology!

Will definately look at the lego minotaurs

Some kind of kit which he can do - ie a science based one. They are great fun and as a bonus encourage interest in science etc.

Curiousmama · 14/11/2009 23:01

Agree with science kits, airfix etc.. I also got ds1 an animation station from the gadget shop but think they've sold out? I got ds2 hotwheels set and top gear things up to now. Also matchbox car. Ds1 is into games and ds2 is more into figures.

I know what you mean about toys though but they seem to be growing up so fast. Have you asked them to make a list? Mine do and it helps give us ideas.

Verity - one thing my boys do like every year and that is the Guinness Book of Records!

VerityBrulee · 22/11/2009 19:26

Just in case anyone else has this dilemma, I have made some progress!

I found night vision goggles by National Geographic, which would go down a treat, and M&S have different kinds of RC toys - big spider, snake and and helicopter/car thingy.

Also M&S has tons of Top Gear stuff which they would probably love, but I have come to loathe and despise that programme, so I couldn't bring myself to buy them. (Top Gear Live is on across the road from us next week, they have been tormenting us to go but it would cost 255 Euro for dh and the 2 boys )

Next have v cool t-shirts in black with Darth Vader in beading, which they will both LOVE.

I got some great books on animation and film-making for kids at an art gallery bookshop.

Sorted
