If he's in his 30s and likes rock, get him this by Richard Blandford. If he has a strong stomach and foul sense of humour, get him Blandofrd's other book.

meltedmarsbars · 12/11/2009 14:26

Elizabethan Lute Songs by Pears and Bream

Foo Fighters cd

he has eclectic taste. We don't do big presents

flatmouse · 12/11/2009 14:27

Bday just before xmas, he's getting a new acquarium.
Xmas had planned to get him a toasted sandwich maker (last of the ole romantics me) but he's put it on his list so i won't now on principle.

Awaiting replies to you to seek inspiration.

bamboobutton · 12/11/2009 14:29

i'm clubbing together with mum and dad and we're getting him one of those gamer chairs with the speakers and vibrating things in them men!

OllieWollieWoo · 12/11/2009 14:38

BBQ recipe book (!), clock radio with cd player thingy and a tin full of different types of chocolate which will be just for him (fed up of him raiding my chocolate treat tin when he fancies a late night chocolatefest!). May also get some Amazon vouchers...... Quite a boring pressy really.

lambanana · 12/11/2009 15:29

ipod shuffle and cufflinks off the dds

HeadFairy · 12/11/2009 15:32

He wants an iPhone or another similar phone... (I'll pay the cost of the phone, he'll pay the monthly contract)

Ithaca · 12/11/2009 15:37

Either pyjama trousers (well Boden's "pull-ons" or whatever they call them as Boden have been badgering me for ages and given me £10 voucher and the 10% off so had to get something there) or ticket to tennis at O2, he to decide which I paying for as he's having both.

Marne · 12/11/2009 16:41

Dh wants a new laptop with windows 7, he always seems to get himself something expensive for x-mas (using my money) and all i get is a CD .

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/11/2009 19:26

Ha ha - Excellent.

Yes, he also seems to be hankering after a 'gaming' chair.

Foos CD I think he would like, possibly with a T-shirt to go with it.

Thanks..... Still, hit me with some more....

MuppetsMuggle · 16/11/2009 19:43

2 xbox games
transformers 2 dvd
digital photo frame
pair of Jeans
tshirts
sweaters

bought it really.

OleOleOlentils · 16/11/2009 19:56

Last year I got him sundae glasses and lots of bits to go with them and we had different ice-cream concoctions every day for the whole holiday. It was a huge hit and cheap. It also kept the children happy.

This year, I am stumped. He is very good at picking presents too so I'll watch this thread for ideas too ...

mamakoukla · 16/11/2009 20:06

Plans for this year's stocking -
Dilbert calendar
After eights
a music CD
coffee beans
reflexology vouchers (he likes but will not spend the money on!)
good quality soap/bath salts/bath oil
a book

If there's something I know he needs or is really hankering after, that helps... one year it was a gift voucher from an outdoor shop as he was after a new pair of hiking boots, another it was an expensive winter coat... one year it was absolutely baltic and he got long Johns! O.K> only as part of the present.

I buy a few little luxuries, maybe some novelty items and one big present which is something that he wants/needs/will appreciate

TheBobblyBulge · 16/11/2009 20:41

laptop - for when he gets home.
spooks box set.
Indiana Jones DVD.
Photo keyring of the DCs first school photo.
Tube of haribo.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 19/11/2009 12:19

Am PMSL @ Alligator loppers! They look mean!

I was going to get him a CD chnager for the car but he managed to get one from work.

Instead I had a brain-wave and booked his favourite chain I bought him for Valentines 2004 in to have the catch repaired.
Neither of us have had 5 mins in the last 5 years to pop to the shop I got it from to be repaired.
They will polish it up for me and gift box it again so I can re-give it to him! (Rather exclusive little shop - they like to go the extra mile!)

Was thinking that and the Foos CD and T-Shirt?

Not sure how much the repair is going to cost yet as they said they will have to 'build it up'. Sounds expensive to me, what with gold being at an all time high - typical.

PJs (for lounging in rather than sleeping). I've not decided which ones yet.
Dressing gown - again not yet chosen.
CD of Dylan Thomas reading his poetry.

Crikey the first two sound boring! He'll appreciate them, though I think, when he's sitting around post-bath with a glass of wine.

BarackObamasTransitVan · 19/11/2009 12:31

That's Dylan Thomas reading Dylan Thomas's poetry, not DP's

Ds is getting him some stuff from Lush, too.

fin54 · 19/11/2009 14:23

Remote control hellicopter, and sat-nav, what he wants

TracyK · 19/11/2009 14:28

I'm going to get him a commissioned little statue of our dog. I've got 2 by this girl already although not my dog.

cyteen · 19/11/2009 14:28

We're getting married next year so have agreed not to buy much for each other (it's a skint Christmas all round). The only thing for definite at the moment is a Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac CD (which I will also enjoy ) I'd like to get him a guitar pedal or an interesting picture but will see how it goes.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 19/11/2009 14:33

DP has asked for clothes and a few Playstition Games, i will also get him some sweets/underware a few dvd's ect.

He is also hankering for a 'gaming chair' we are getting a reclinng sofa and chir on monday buy i have already told him the the chair is mine so he can bog off, i may give him a voucher to sit in it for xmas. im nice like that.......
