And realised I was just going to buy a load of crap they didn't need and was just going to clutter up thier bedrooms even more.

I need ideas for useful/disposable stocking fillers.

So far I have;

Bubblebath.
Satsuma
Chocolate coins
Book/Annual

GeeWhizz · 09/11/2009 07:56

DD5 and DS3 assortment from below:-

Matchbox cars
Hair accessories
Sturdy dinosaurs from ELC
Chocolate coins
Selection box
Play money
Mini tool set
Wallet
Activity Book
Annual
Littlest Pet Shop figures

Instore/Poundstretcher do some good things once you look past the tat they sell

nancyBotwin, the Beano mugs were just from a local shop I'm afraid.

ebay often has similar?

FimbleHobbs · 09/11/2009 09:04

We go for 'useful but with added character' and/or consumable too. So pants, socks, toothbrushes, flannels, cup/mugs, not-too-messy craft/colouring set to entertain them before opening other presents, sometimes a poster (rolled up they look exciting poking out of the stocking), satsuma, chocolate money.

Always include a bottle of Mr Matey coz its what I had when I was small. Also it takes up plenty of space

I've seen a yogabugs video in the 99p shop which will probably go down well having seen DCs enthusiasm for waybuloo.

When looking at stuff I ask myself 'how annoying will it be for me to find it lying on the bedroom/playroom floor for the umpteenth time'. This rules out most of the tat!

Thanks Iheartdusty!

My big two get:

socks
Assortment of hair bobbles and clips
beads and bracelets
a few little bits of tat from Hawkins Bazaar
choc coins
choc Santa and Reindeer

DH says don't bother about stocking but DD2 remembers shat she got from last year, stockings are very exciting here.

I've decided to try and get stuff that gets used up as well so that its not hanging around.

eg. crap food stuff that you wouldn't normally dream of buying them.

DS -astronaut food from Hawkins Bazaar (they had ice-cream or strawberries when I went in)

DD -a jar of Marshmallow Fluff for spreading on toast (I presume?) as she loves marshmallows

or stuff thats useful like fun/bright collapsible storage boxes for their rooms

NorbertDentressangle · 09/11/2009 09:46

oh, and some of those original Jelly Beans with loads of flavours. Not cheap but they love trying the different flavours and guessing what they are.

I'm not bothered about the amount of sweets etc at Xmas as they are pretty good at limiting themselves and don't stuff them all by Boxing Day

Nancybotwin_ Beano mugs. Scroll down.

I managed to sneak out this morning and bought a miniature flower press for dd and a mini slinki for ds. Also notepads and those biros with multiple colours a bit like the linked one but funkier.

Unfortunately, I can't get everything out to update my present list as I have them both at home off school today!

Hi!

For my daughter's stocking we are going to put:

Nuts
Sweets/chocolate
Puzzle
Books
Bubbles
Character flannel
Hat and scarf set
Gloves
Knickers
Socks
Tights
Colouring sets

NancyBotwin · 09/11/2009 14:30

ooh thanks for that link Daft! Lots of good ideas there for ds1

quirkychick · 09/11/2009 15:02

We put in:

sparkly/pretty tights
hairclips
hat,gloves,scarf
annuals
chocolate coins and other sweets
crayons,pens,crafty stuff
colouring books
animal flannel
books
cd story for bedtimes

Hawkins bazaar has some great bits, I have bought bath stuff/fun flannels etc from there. Monster stilts look good and I quite fancy the grasshead that you grow. I might buy those glow in the dark stars for dd's room too.

The christmas decoration is a really nice idea.
