Christmas for School?

Hi lovely mumsnetters

I'm head of KS3 at a girls secondary. As part of Christmas at school each of my year groups are being given a task.

Year 7 are creating Christmas decorations for our school trees

Year 9 are organising and running a Christmas fair

I'm stuck with year 8, I was going to get them all to create a 3D advent calendar, but time and this being something they will need to do daily has stopped me. Anyone got any ideas??

Could they make Christmas cards to sell at the Christmas fair? Or to send to residents at a local nursing home?

Maybe do/make something for those in need in the community since Christmas is about giving?

Christmas cards are a good idea - if your school is in a residential area (and esp if parking causes problems!) it might be nice to send cards to people living in the area to help foster community goodwill.

Or they could make paper chains to decorate the reception area/dining room/hall

Thanks for the ideas!

Make their own 2010, calendar.
Pair them up, go around the school taking digital photos & use any digital photos from key school events from throughout the yr.

Each pair/trio/group can be responsible for a months, plus one for the front cover.

They need to download a couple of good quality photos on one half of the A4 page, the opther half just has the dates. You can also pre-print any key school dates.
You can add captions if you want with the photos

Put them together & holepunch one corner & secure with a file tie ot similar.

You can charge a couple of ££ each at the school fair. Easily covers printing costs & could make a few £ for the school fund.

Just realised its for yr 8. sorry my suggestion may be a bit young. Maybe you could do something similar but they could add graphics etc.
