He has been asking for lego for a while. I dont want to get him something to hard but I think Lego City might be a bit babyish.

What would you start with?

Agents is good, or the Rock Miners one.
Star Wars, or Racers.

Oh - the lego world is your oyster!
I am refusing to get 7yo ds1 any more, how did he get to 7 without any lego???

We got a lego catologue in the post yesterday and my almost 7 year old ds has been studying it all day, putting in ticks and stars according to what he likes best
At present it is Power Miners, Agents, Racers which he is most favouring!

Just realise that is just what ChasingSquirrels said! And dh just told me he really likes the Star Wars ones too!

foxinsocks · 07/11/2009 19:30

lol yes ds has been doing that too posey!

I got both mine (ds and dd) the police station last year which they absolutely LOVED (lots of lego figures put in jail and transported around in the prison van!)

this year have got dd one of the houses and ds some racers

ds1 had some but was never into it.
ds2 got pirates of the carribeen lego ship a couple of years ago but it was too difficult for him, hence I had to sit for 3 hours making it, so when it fell apart it got shoved in a box never to be seen again

Just had a look at agents and power miners.
I think DS would like lego agents because he tends to like spy stuff. Are they easy enough to follow the instructions. I was thinking a couple of small sets would be better than a big one, although some of the big ones have several small projects in one.

Also where is the best place to shop.

Are your DS's able to make the little lego? My DS loves lego (just 7), but he still loves the duplo house type lego - I've bought him the older lego but he can't be bothered to make it with the instructions.

I think lego is under-aged tbh.

My DS1 is a total fan now (he's 10) but wasn't into it at all until he was about 7.

We like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Lego City still popular too. My 6yo wants this set for Chrimbo and DS1 has asked for this

PinkyDink · 08/11/2009 09:46

Does he enjoy playing with the Lego or actually building it?

The reason I ask is because my DS (who is 6) is obsessed loves lego especially Star Wars and Indianna Jones, but needs a lot of help to build the bigger sets. The smaller sets of these (about £10) are better for him as he plays with the figures more. He also has a large tub of Lego bricks which he really enjoys making his own designs from.
