I would just get her the highest spec one within your budget- IME, children are amazing at working technology, and she will pick it up in no time.

I think the ones aimed at children (and esp. at girls) tend to concentrate on pink and shiny things and leave out the bits you actually need to take a great photo.

What a great pressie

Agree forget about the ones aimed at children. At 7yo she can work a 'normal' one. I've got a samsung little pink thing - £50 iirc - fantastic little piece of kit

If you can persuade her to accept any colour other than pink, do - you'll probably get a better camera (unless you're spending £50+) DD2 had a pink camera from Argos for her birthday - a Hitachi one, £30 - absolute crap, wished she'd had the discounted end-of-line Kodak black £40 one from Asda instead (frustratingly, cameras are exempt from the Argos bring-it-back-if-not-happy guarantee, you can only take it back if it's faulty, crap camera that take ages so all shots are blurred doesn't count)

@ pink - I got my one cheaper because it was pink and nobody wanted them lol

the vtech kidioom pro is FANTASTIC. it has photos, video, games, mp3, can do funny things to photos, really robust... bit pricey though, around £75 in argos. in the pics it has a vaguely boyish cover with buildings on it but there is an alternative cool swirly one you can snap on instead.

kidiZoom

frazzled74 · 02/11/2009 10:11

thanks have just ordered kiddizoom with the £30 off at very, so got the camera and mario kart ds game for £34.I would rather not get her "real" camera til she is older. ordered it in blue though so it can be handed down to ds.

Hi. My DD has just turned 7 and we got her the kiddizoom, it's great, she absolutely loves it and can work it herself, we also got the digital photo frame to go with it £15 in ELC at the mo. I did want to get her the kiddizoom pro but thought it was too expensive.

I also looked at the next one and it was rubbish, dont think it even had a screen on the back!

the digital frame sounds good, will have a look, thanks
