Sorry if this has already been covered, but thought it might help someone

Having agonised for several minutes over the merits of 23rd Vs 24th and having missed the Christmas deliveries every year until now, I felt I needed to share this with you all!

(decided on the 23rd BTW!)

Fiveset - do you have On Demand? Is it annual or monthly?

I am awaiting my response from my email - takes upt o 2 hours app.

Fivesetsofschoolfees · 20/10/2009 22:15

I have the annual on-demand. It clearly says that a Christmas week delivery is included, and sure enough, they didn't add it to my bill.

Hulababy · 20/10/2009 22:17

Think it must be the monthly one that doesn't include it for some reason; despite having to sign up for the year and it costing the same - you just get to pay monthly instead of a lump sum.

Hulababy · 20/10/2009 22:20

Yes: It is the monthly on demand that is the issue. I just didn't think to check when I took it out. So does annual cost more then?

Monthly Membership ? £7.49 per month (this was my 25% discount code to reduce it from £9.99)

Monthly membership at £7.49 per month for the first 12 months only*
Unlimited deliveries with no further charge outside of the Christmas week**
Priority access to two Christmas delivery slots Monthly memberships will automatically renew each month, minimum term 12 months. If you change your mind within 7 days you can get a refund of the membership fee (provided you have not used your membership). At the end of the minimum term, your membership will be automatically rolled over and renewed on a month-to-month basis at the then applicable monthly membership fee (currently £9.99), unless you notify us that you wish to cancel.

** Limit one delivery per day. Unlimited delivery does not apply to Christmas week. Ocado reserves the right to limit the number of Christmas delivery slots a member may book.

* Standard delivery charges apply to all deliveries during this period. Membership does not guarantee a delivery slot.

BirdyArms · 20/10/2009 22:37

When I renewed my annual on demand the man on the phone said that they are only giving free Christmas delivery slots to older annual on demand customers, ie if you buy it now you won't get a free slot (rather than customers over 40).

Very pleased that this thread has reminded me to book mine.

jazzandh · 21/10/2009 08:08

When I renewed my annual on demand membership in June, the NEW terms stated no free christmas delivery. May complain and change to waitrose for Christmas - but Ocado have always delivered - so on balance it's worth it.

ClaireDeLoon · 21/10/2009 08:38

During a Christmas delivery period, annual Ocado On Demand members as well as members that have purchased Ocado On Demand monthly memberships (whether or not such memberships are subject to a minimum term) will be entitled to 1 Christmas delivery slot at no extra charge, provided such members are still an Ocado On Demand member at the time of release of the Christmas delivery slots and became a member of Ocado On Demand (which shall include any trial membership) before (and not including) 11 May 2009.

And

If you became a member of Ocado on Demand (which shall include any trial membership) on or after 11 May 2009, then membership will not entitle you to 1 Christmas delivery slot at no extra charge and all such deliveries during this period will be subject to Ocado's delivery charges applicable at that time.

So it is when you subsrcibed that matters - I started mine October last year and it has just automatically renewed for another year.

jazzandh · 21/10/2009 10:07

Well I've been an annual member continuously since the week it started in 2008 and renewed July this year, and the system is charging me. Maybe this is an error? I have complained anyway.....

Hulababy · 21/10/2009 13:46

Jazz - you renewed after May, that is why you have been charged.

I got a standard reply referring me tot he terms and conditions from Ocaod, but reminding me I got priority to the slots.

Have siply replied back saying thanks for the reply, but as the delivery charges are IMO way too excessive esp compared to the competitors, I have cancelled my Ocado Christmas slot and reserved Waitrose De;liver instead, FOR FREE.

Have used Waitrose Deliver before (used it before Ocado started here) and never had any problems with them.

jazzandh · 21/10/2009 15:30

I am actually really annoyed by this now....they are cashing in on pre-christmas delivery.

It's a normal working week, if they have more to do, they are gaining more custom etc - don't think may retailers make a loss at Christmas.

I have paid for weekly deliveries, at the very least it should be discounted for those who have already paid.....(if £10 is already discounted that is even worse)....the week after Christmas could be considered to be more of a "holiday period"....

ClaireDeLoon · 21/10/2009 15:47

Have just noted that my Christmas order has changed from free to £9.99. It seems they cocked up my renewal and so now are saying I am a new customer and not entitled to a free delivery slot. Have emailed them to request a full refund of the annual on demand fee - am not happy about this as it is their error.

jazzandh · 21/10/2009 16:07

They have just emailed me - after I complained - fobbed my first email off with standard rubbish reply- so I complained further and they will now refund £9.99 against my most recent order... so badger them if you think you are entitled to a free delivery slot.

Hulababy · 21/10/2009 18:21

That is good Jazz!

I haven't had any further reply to me second email.

MrsJohnDeere · 21/10/2009 19:52

I think I will email and complain too, and see if it gets me anywhere.

ClaireDeLoon · 22/10/2009 10:32

I got the same as jazz - an apology and a refund of my £9.99 delivery slot charge off my most recent order.
