Have receipt but no packaging, can I return it?

If anyone could give advice before I trek to Toys R Us, I'd be very grateful. DD was given a baby annabel rocking crib thing for christmas, we have chucked all packaging but have now realised that it just does not stay together, every time you put the baby in, the blasted thing falls apart. I have looked it up on Amazon and it has 3 reviews which all say the same thing so I think it is "not fit for purpose". Is it possible for me to take it back saying this (with no box but with receipt) or do I need to take it up with manufacturer? Any advice very welcome - thanks!

Yes take it back. The most important thing is your receipt, and you have that. Its faulty.

Thanks mrsmaidamess, I will give it a go - if I have any problems, I may be back for more advice!

Yep, not fit for purpose is a good reason to take it back. Don't let them fob you off with 'we need to send it back to the manufacturer' either, your contract is with the store. They have to replace it with one that is not bust (or crap in this case) or give you a refund. You DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT CREDIT VOUCHERS FOR FAULTY GOODS.
