I'm sure we probably all do it, but this year i'm looking at the pile of crap we have bought for christmas and my one thought is "WHY?!!!!" I'm supposed to be following WW and therefore bought loads of sweets/chocs including:

2 x boxes of Quality Street
After Eights
Turkish Delight Thins
Ferrero Rocher
Chocolate Log
Terry's Chocolate Oranges
Guillyan Chocolate shells
Pringles x 2
Doritos x 2
Bruchetta type things (they'd run out of cheese twists)
Cheeselets
Cheese Savoury things
Dips

to name but a few!!

That's not to mention the spuds, turkey, veg, booze, etc that we bought.

I am getting fed up with feeling full up and slightly sick now but i just cant stop bloody eating!! I am dreading going to WW on Monday! haha!!

That is crazy. Sorry.

RGChristmasPargy · 26/12/2008 23:54

I know it is! It was like we went into some sort of panic about what we wanted to have in over Christmas! DP and I have both admitted that we've been daft about it and have vowed not to do it next year!

Reckon i'll be giving half of it away at work or something......

I didn't buy a single thing on your list and we have been blown out anyway.

RGChristmasPargy · 27/12/2008 00:02

We deffo wont be buying all that crap next year, that's for sure. Maybe a box of quality street but that'll be it (hopefully!).

nbee84 · 27/12/2008 15:04

I never buy any chocolate for Christmas as we always receive so many as gifts.

I keep saying that one year it will back fire on us and we'll have no chocolate in the house, but it hasn't yet!

DH received;

box Thorntons
box Hotel Chocolat marzipans
bar Hotel Chocolat marzipan
carton Heroes
tube milky bar buttons
bar Thorntons white chocolate

I received;

box Thorntons
box Guylians
mini box Lindor
bar Thorntons fudge
box of 4 slabs fudge

2 dc's received each;

big tube smarties
selection box
mini box guylian

As a family we received;

biggest tin of Roses I've ever seen!
tin of quality street.

It's like a sweet shop here!!!!

nbee84 · 27/12/2008 15:05

Oh and I forgot the huge tin of M&S chocolate biccies!

saggyhairyarse · 27/12/2008 17:33

I have no idea why people buy all these Xmas foods when you can'tpossible eat them all.

We do the whole 4 course dinner thing and I make a choc pud/fruit salad as well as the Xmas pud and you are stuffed. The thought of eating loads of chocs as well makes me a little

needmorecoffee · 27/12/2008 17:34

we're snowed under with chocolate here. Am womanfully making my way through the baklava thoguh

starbear · 27/12/2008 17:50

Don't do that myself but I was so cautions not to get too much I didn't get crusty bread for Turkey sandwiches, big mistake and decided not to get to much milk and run out
I make a list every year for next year and that helps me calm down and get in control of my waste. Still haven't used the crackers I brought 12 years ago!! before I went out with DH or had Ds!! (I always forget to put them on the table, or when I first brought them thought they were naff for just adults) I'm going to put them on my list again year and see if I remember next year

Lizzylou · 27/12/2008 17:54

Didn't buy any chocolates, but got given loads.
OOh, Baklava, Needmorecoffee, yum

snoringnightmare · 27/12/2008 17:58

Starbear, I'm lying in bed feeling sorry for myself after wrenching my shoulder but you made me chuckle then boak at the thought of 12 year old crackers going manky. Then realised you must mean Christmas crackers.

Painkillers dulled brain.

needmorecoffee · 27/12/2008 18:01

well, I'd invite you all round of course

Acinonyx · 27/12/2008 19:35

We weren't given any chocolates or sweets (or any other edibles) as I expected. we don't usually have sweets in the house but I did buy quite a few for Xmas - too many! I don't like to throw them out but the 'Xmas treats' excuse is just about over.

DoubleBluff · 27/12/2008 19:37

we jsust have a tin of celebrations
not big choc eaters here.
But huge jar of pickled onions that is nearly finished

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 27/12/2008 19:44

its the trifle thats getting to me a bit! It is so yum but never ending!

ComeOVeneer · 27/12/2008 19:48

I have just got back frommy parents this evening after 4 days there and left all the left overs at them to deal with. I made a load of soup, 2 turkey, ham and mushroom pies for them too put in the freezer, and made them 3 boxes of homemade truffles, which they can freeze and eat at their lesiure. I have to venture to the supermarket tomorrow as we have nothing but cheese here!

mysterymoniker · 27/12/2008 19:56

am peckish, will take the cheese savoury things off your hands?

starbear · 27/12/2008 23:08

snoringnightmare Glad to be of service. If you want another chuckle. DH,DS and myself have tried not to leave any leftovers and eaten all our greens which isn't in our normal working day diet, we are farting like troopers. We have food recycling here and it is amazing how much food we throw away, I can't seem to keep that to a minimum. Of course Chocolates will never go in the bin only on my hips

RGChristmasPargy · 27/12/2008 23:37

I made the leftover veg into veggie patties and gave them to DD for her lunch today. The rest are in the freezer so at least that's something that's not gone to waste!

I hope we will learn from experience next year and not buy as much. Just some Quality Street and After Eights should do us next time!!

RGChristmasPargy · 28/12/2008 22:03
