How disappointing - he got new wii games and all but one would not play - even the wii fit dics would not register in the console.

What can this be - has anyone had this happen and how did you resolve it?

check if your system and or games are either PAL or NTSC. they need to be compatible. If you bought them from the states they will be NTSC, but your console will more than likely be PAL if you bought it in the UK

ninedragons · 26/12/2008 12:21

Certainly the Playstation is chipped according to the region in which you buy it and you have to buy games from the same regions.

I found out by buying one from Toys R Us for DH years ago and it turned out that they only sold Japanese-chipped ones because the only place you can buy the compatible games is.... Toys R Us. Fucking scammers.

The games were bought from Game, Amazon and Argos.

They should be fine then, all games sold through outlets for PS / etcx should be trhe right region so if Wii is regional then Argos etc will sell our region

Sounds tbh as if you may have a faulty amchine? Where did you by it?

nintendo helpline- call customer services?

lixylix · 27/12/2008 11:10

I bought the console last Feb in Sainsburys. We only had the sports game, that worked fine for a couple of months but then we never used it again until just before Christmas.

Try updating your Wii - see info here:
www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/settingsSystemUpdate.jsp

Might help?

lixylix · 27/12/2008 12:11

Thank you - have followed these instructions but its now asking for a pin, which I don't have.

mammy2G · 27/12/2008 13:47

Hi - it seems PIN is to do with Parental controls see here:
www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/settingsParentalControls.jsp

Maybe set when you first got it?
Hope you get it fixed.

www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/support/wii_support_5251_8104.html

which also gives phone numbers is problems not resolved......I love the Wii and I feel for your ds
