Quick, quick, agonising mince pie dilemma, need answer right away!!!

DD left out carrots for the reindeer and mince pie for Santa.

I'm not hungry. I don't want to eat it. I will get fat and look like a heifer am trying not to eat unless I'm actually hungry.

OTOH, if I have a mulled wine and heat it up, I might just fancy it with a sliver of brandy butter. And DD will think Santa has eaten it, so it will not be an act of gratuitous greed, but maternal duty.

So what should I do?

maternal duty every time

tassisssss · 24/12/2008 22:16

i've put the mince pie back in the tin, the carrot back in the rack and the milk down the sink

Rosasmum · 24/12/2008 22:21

You don't have to eat the pie, just put the empty foil back, break the carrot so just the end is left and have a glass of mulled wine,

DD would notice extra mince pie - she is 6 and a bit suspicious of existence of Santa Claus. Other children told her it's your mums and dads who put the presents out, not Santa. Her brother (9) confirms it. She looked at me shrewdly and said: "you won't eat these carrots, because you don't like them like this, so I'll know it's not you if they're gone." And she left Santa a note asking him if he enjoyed the mince pie, I think her logic is that if he doesn't answer, he doesn't exist.

How to dispose of mince pie? Should I bury it?

Chuck most of it away and leave a little on the plate? Thats what we do

thumbElf · 24/12/2008 22:36

ah, eat it, go on, maternal duty an' all that!

LittleJingleBellas · 24/12/2008 22:41

the waste, the waste! I couldn't cope with it.

OTOH i know it's even more of a waste on my arse than in my bin...

Urgent update, just in case any of you were on tenterhooks () - I scoffed it. Warmed up with brandy cream and a glass of mulled wine.

And it was scrum-diddly-umptious.

Happy Christmas all.

well done! Happy Christmas to you too.

Good call. She sounds wily enough to have spotted it in the bin if you'd thrown it away.
