Me for one. I shan't be starting a 'I'm off to do my cooking' thread, because I'll be back here within minutes...my trusty microwave is very happy to take on all that housewifey stuff

I have no partner to accommodate
No presents of my own to open (well, my best friend sent me one! Thankyou xx)
Only two small children to plonk in front of the telly entertain.
So I'm going to be on MN for at least some of the next 72 hours!

Anyone like to join me...Merry Christmas by the way, to those who are off!

Merry Christmas to you Flihgtattendant!

We are not hugely organised and today is Ds1's birthday so we will be pigging out on crisps, sausage rolls and birthday cake. He is 26 today.
If I forgot to get anything for tomorrow well tough shamola. The younger children are being put going outside to play so as they sleep tonight and I am just going to do a little bit at a time today.

aGalChangedHerName · 24/12/2008 09:58

I am at home this year with no cooking to do either

We are off out to our local lovely Indian for Christmas dinner then home to watch movies etc.

Not entertaining anyone on Boxing Day either thank god. I should have done this years ago!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/12/2008 09:59

We are at my parents, but dh set up a wi-fi network here, so I have my trusty laptop and can continue to post.

LoveMyGirls · 24/12/2008 10:00

I won't be staying for the whole time but will be popping in and out.

Gentleotter thanks for reminding me about sending letting dd's out to play, good tip!

aGalChangedHerName · 24/12/2008 10:03

It's weird not having to do a major clean up or buy or prep food. And no cooking for the next 2 days.

I am taking the dd's to their Auntie (my best mate and birthing partner) to deliver presents and she is doing their nails for them.

Sooo relaxed today. Will watch a Christmas film and drink Baileys later with all the dc's.

bubbles4 · 24/12/2008 10:06

Merry Christmas everybody,I'll be popping in and out as dh is in hospital hopefully having his op as I type.

Flihgtattendant · 24/12/2008 10:22

Ah that is better.

Bubbles - nothing too serious I hope? when will he be out?

OP posts:
bubbles4 · 24/12/2008 10:27

He slipped on ice last week and has a compressed fracture of his tibia so needs it plated and pinned but the op has been delayed twice aleady so it will be a huge relief when it is over, hopefully he will be home sometime over the weekend.

Flihgtattendant · 24/12/2008 10:31

Oh gosh

I hope it goes to plan. That sounds pretty bad timing.

OP posts:
bubbles4 · 24/12/2008 10:34

Yes it was bad timing especially as four weeks ago ds2 who is fifteen broke both his legs jumping from a garage roof so we have three fractured legs in this family.

Flihgtattendant · 24/12/2008 10:37

Crikey.

I think you might need this more than I do mate.

Thanks Flihgt, went shopping last night and there are vast quantities of baileys in this house

Flihgtattendant · 24/12/2008 10:44

My favourite, very good idea.

dh has insisted that Christmas carries on as normal whilst I want to delay it until he comes home, the compromise at the moment is that we have Christmas dinner when he comes home but he insists that the dc's open their presents as normal which makes me a bit sad as he wont be there to see their faces.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 24/12/2008 11:00

I will no doubt be on here from 4pm ish tomorrow afternoon when exH takes the DS's to his, until after lunch on Boxing Day.....

Oh probably most of today as well avoiding housework and other such mundane things

bubbles4 · 24/12/2008 11:01

Did your sort out your decorations FAQ ?

MadameCastafiore · 24/12/2008 11:02

Oooooooooooohhhh - am just sitting here supping a glass of Port - I don't like wine enough to open a bottle for me - DH has taken DS to his office for the day (more fool him!) and DD is at her fathers - dog is ripping up the garden and the pavlovas which I make for 2 neighbours (they make me a table centre peice and a tiramisu in return) are in the oven cooling down - have been to Sainsbury's and got the last of the bits and now am doing nothing till my friend rings me to go down the pub so an excellent excuse to crack open a bottle and sit on the OC for a few hours!

Happy Christmas everyone - hic hic hic [fpissed]

MadameCastafiore · 24/12/2008 11:03

Sorry the PC not the OC - that might mean something on here that I have no idea about!

Majeika · 24/12/2008 11:07

so today the boys got themselves up and breakfasted themselves giving me a lie in til 10.30am!!

then we are mooching around for a bit and might go to the soft play in Camberley for the afternoon but I m going to ring first and see if it is packed or not.

So while everyone rushes around panic buying I will sit back smugly and watch!!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 24/12/2008 11:11

bubbles - yes I did thankyou - bought some new ones on Friday, put them up over the weekend, 3 have since fallen down - so I shall be scaling ladders again this afternoon to stick them back up.

bubbles4 · 24/12/2008 11:16

be careful,dont want any accidents.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 24/12/2008 11:25

I expect I'll be here . dh is working, I have 3 teens who probably won't surface til lunch and no dinner to cook as we're doing it Boxing Day instead.
