As we are such a small family it doesn't seem as buzzy as it was when I was a kid with brothers, sister gran and aunt etc..
It will be just the three of us tomorrow. Seems a bit flat. The only plan we have is to go to church at 4pm for the Children's Service. The house is clean, the shopping has been done. (Not keen on shopping anymore) Just wondered how to get a little sparkle in the day? What are you all up to?

i am planning to watch films and get ever so slightly wankered.

TinyWhiteFeather · 24/12/2008 04:00

Early shopping.
Deliver last of christmas cards with DC's.
A run!!
Hide.

Niecie · 24/12/2008 04:19

Last bit of food shopping
One more present for DS2
Present wrapping
Wash hard floors
Hoover the rest
Tidy away miscellaneous crappage that litters the house.
Make a yule log, mince pies and maybe some flapjacks.
Church for Christingle at 4pm (nice and dark for the candles)

Lizzylou · 24/12/2008 06:20

Tidy up
Boil up kettle and attempt to wash my hair/body
Go to SIL's, PIL's and SIL were coming here for day (and my Mom), but SIL has hurt her back so we are going to her house.
Come home, relax, put on new PJ's and hope that Father Christmas puts the bloody gas back on!

All sorted and ready to go, taking the boys to soft play centre this afternoon oh and their walking there and back

InTheseShoes · 24/12/2008 07:51

Hang around on Internet for a while

Go for a coffee and cake with DH and DSs, also any last bits needed

Get veg ready for tomorrow and make lemon curd (pudding ingredient)

Friends over for traditional Christmas Eve: treasure hunt (crappily prepared by me whilst eating After Eights and watching SATC last night), red wine and chilling out, eating ribs and macaroni cheese.

Pyjamas found under tree at some point for wearing to bed.

Pie and port for Santa and then early night for Dss I hope.

Telly, also wrap DH pressies at some point and fill stockings

Lovely!

saltiresaysSANTA · 24/12/2008 07:55

What I am planning/needing to do and what actually gets done are two different things.
I am off to work in approx 1/2 hour. 4 hours of mad people (mainly men who had no idea whatsoever it was Christmas) buying perfume and toys and makeup and stockpiling paracetamol and rennie.

Then-
need to wrap Dses presents
make mince pies
iron (MIL might do this)a few things, just so I can get the basket out teh way
walk dog (DH hopefully)
find someone to entertain Dses so i can get their presents wrapped.
drink wine

Am planning on taking down all the decs and packing up a bit more of the house, before we go to DDIL and DS's for Xmas, (we are moving on the 9th)

LynetteScavo · 24/12/2008 08:23

We will be driving up to the lake district - 3 DC's in the back of the car for 4 hours, and DS2 still has the D&V bug - Oh Christmas joy!

stinkymonkey · 24/12/2008 08:24

Looks like it's just me going to the gym today then.

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 24/12/2008 08:36

We are going to a friends this morning so the children can go nuts together. Then its the childrens Mass this afternoon with the Nativity. This evening we are just chilling out, playing games, watching Norad, and showing dd her first Nativity when she was 3.

Fivesetsofschoolfees · 24/12/2008 09:10

Just getting up now

No particular plans for the morning, although we may do a quick recce of the presents and decide if any pile is lacking (shouldn't be).

After lunch, I will start on the turkey gravy. I prepped the other veggies yesterday while DD was 'helping' prepare supper.

At 4pm we will go to the Crib service at church. In the evening, we will do our usual stuff, and then finish wrapping. We will go back to church for the midnight communnion.

All in all, a very relaxed day.

janeite · 24/12/2008 09:56

Well dd2 is still unwell and I've woken up all snuffly and with period pains too. Bah! So we are having a moochy sort of day, to include hot chocs at the deli and watching a film. Later, we'll wrap up warm and go to carol singing on the green before coming home for a buffet tea and hot mince pies.

Can I just say I am in shock and awe over Fivesets having prepared her Christmas veggies yesterday!

I was feeling quite well prepared until I read that.

Fivesetsofschoolfees · 24/12/2008 12:39

At this moment in time, I have done as much as I can for tomorrow's lunch.

The potatoes are peeled and sitting in cold water.

The milk for the bread sauce is ready.

The giblet stock is made, and the giblets chopped up for pet food.

The stuffing is made.

Now it's a case of cooking everything else, but that will happen tomorrow.

I'm not doing anything particularly complicated - no multiple courses. I bought the cranberry and the bacon-wrapped sausages ready made.

Smithagain · 24/12/2008 13:51

So far:

Have legged it into town to get DD2's special Christmas balloon filled with helium (it's all she has asked for!) DH took the girls out to distract them when I got home with it.

Have made tonight's pudding (lemon tart), bread sauce and some veg soup.

Am about to embark on dinner - we are rebelling and having our Christmas roast today, when there's nothing else planned and I can cook to my heart's content. Tomorrow will be leftovers, party food, cake and crackers. And I will be able to enjoy church service and present opening without worrying about turkey, spuds, sprouts etc etc etc.

That's the plan anyway. Going well so far. The cooking smells are making things feel festive and the girls are playing nicely for now ...

ninedragons · 24/12/2008 14:22

Am in Oz so we've just finished Christmas Eve (actually, Happy Christmas everyone!).

We went to the supermarket. It was divine! There was almost nobody there - apparently Australians are a well-organised bunch. Everything was reduced to silly prices so we came home, put DD to bed, had an excellent bottle of cleanskin champagne (I always thought this meant a terrorist with no prior convictions but in Australia it's a bottle of wine with no label on it - it was fab and 3 quid) and giant tubs of deli salad (50p) and fresh crusty bread (25p). For breakfast on Christmas Day we are having fresh profiteroles (also 50p) and another bottle of champers.

Watched the Antiques Roadshow and went to bed. I am too excited about FC to sleep so am up MNing at 1.15 in the morning.

MadameCastafiore · 24/12/2008 14:25

Make pavlovas, mumsnet, clean house, drink lots of booze, feed DS and have a fmaily evening watching film and eating pizza and then get DS to bed before shagging like rabbits on the hearth rug!

(DH is going through a kinky phase - think he thinks Santa may spot us and that would really float his boat!)

Although in reality we will probably be tucked up by 10.30 - far too early for santa to see anything!

ninedragons · 24/12/2008 14:35

Urgh! What if your DH is thinking of a THREESOME with Santa?

That's the problem with living in a vastly different timezone - when you're drunknetting, everyone in the UK is thinking fuck, she cracked open the Advocaat early, didn't she?

MadameCastafiore · 24/12/2008 14:37

I am in the UK - cracked open the Port and then found a bottle of Madeira at 11.30 this morning and then the fucking neighbours keep dropping in delivering stuff finding me drinking before noon!

Got to walk the dog now and can hardly walk straight - she will have to lead me on my merry way!

No he doesn't want a threesome by the way - think he thinks being caught might be kinky!
