I would if I were you

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 23/12/2008 12:02

I would charge it, yes. IIRC they are at least part charged but it's worth making sure

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 23/12/2008 12:03

The one we bought was already charged in that it came on but you can also set it up with child's name, date of birth etc whih I have done.

Fimbo · 23/12/2008 12:03

I think dd's had a little charge on it, but needed at least 12hrs for it to last any length of time.

trumpetgirl · 23/12/2008 12:03

Oh nooooooo! I've wrapped DDs already. Will have to unwrap it tonight
Thanks though, I would never have thought of that!

CountessDracula · 23/12/2008 12:03

Ah great thanks
I will do tonight if when dd sleeps

Yes, I think it needs 3 hours to fully charge or something. (I may have just made that figure up )

DH has done DS1's for that long.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 23/12/2008 12:04

Can they not just play with it plugged in ,in the meantime for those who forgot to charge?

CountessDracula · 23/12/2008 12:04

I don't know I haven't ever used one

Shite am I going to have to spend half of tomorrow working out how to do nintendogs arhg

GoodWilfToAllMN · 23/12/2008 12:06

If you haven't though, DON'T unwrap! You can also play them with the charging lead connected, though clearly not as mobile...

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2008 12:06

I hadn't even thought of charging it!

Do I need to buy a charger seprately? It's still hidden in DH's office so I can't check!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 23/12/2008 12:07

We had to charge ds up for 12 hours i think it was initially when we first bought it. Didn't go down too well last xmas! Then you can play it whilst charging or it usually only takes couple of hours to fully charge after that!

CountessDracula · 23/12/2008 12:07

i assume the charger comes with it

OP posts:
LedodgyChristmasjumper · 23/12/2008 12:08

Yes the charger comes with it.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 23/12/2008 12:08

Charger included.
Can you play it whilst connected though when it has never been charged ??
IIRC we def had to charge it before we could use it last year but i may be wrong!

SantasNuttySTaff · 23/12/2008 12:08

You have to charge it for 3 hours minimum (unplayed) but for optimum battry life & charging 12 Hours (unplayed) is reccomended

says the manual

HappyMummyOfOne · 23/12/2008 12:35

Popped DS's onto charge this morning so should be fully done by tonight ready to wrap.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 23/12/2008 12:37

Yes they do but you can also play them while they are being charged. From what I can remember anyway. Though we did charge ours before hand.

DD1 plays it now while it is being charged.

DONT PANIC
You can use them while plugged into the mains and the charger comes with it so if its all wrapped dont worry.

And i know this for sure cos all 3 of mine have them already.

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 23/12/2008 12:46

Just let them play whilst its plugged in and then charge it over dinner ...no problem ...

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 23/12/2008 15:56

If you want them to take notice of anything else you've given them, stick the DS bits at the bottom of the sack!
