DD will be in bed early as shes only 1. I'm going to cook us a nice meal and then put a christmas film on, any suggestions?

got to be It's a Wonderful Life, for me....

well, it is depressing halfway through but is a very uplifting ending!!

Is also scarily topical at the moment, with credit crunch etc.

see what others say though...!

hockeypuck · 23/12/2008 11:20

Love Actually, or the Family Man. Both whileheartedly feel good and christmassy

Lauriefairyonthetreeeatscake · 23/12/2008 11:20

it's fantastic and will make even your dh cry - watch it, watch it.....

misshardbroom · 23/12/2008 13:47

'Love Actually', definitely.

EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 13:53

Another vote for Love, actually- it's our christmas film!

Iklboo · 23/12/2008 13:53

Hellboy II

mrsmaidamess · 23/12/2008 13:55

When Harry Met Sally. Old but very funny and Christmassy too, IMHO.

janeite · 23/12/2008 13:56

Another vote for "It's A Wonderful Life" - am I the only person who thought "Love Actually" was rubbish?

janeite · 23/12/2008 13:57

Ooh I've just remembered another good Christmas film - Gremlins!

mrsmaidamess · 23/12/2008 14:01

I didn't like Love Actually, actually.

I thought the whole Hugh Grant/Whatserface from Eastenders thing was a load of rhubarb.

SilverSparkle · 23/12/2008 14:01

Christmas with the Kranks

moonshine · 23/12/2008 14:03

Agree Janeite - it's rubbish.

Edward Scissorhands - not strictly a Christmas film (although it does have lots of snow in it)

PuppyDrunky · 23/12/2008 14:03

God Love Actually is a crock of shite, get It's a Wonderful Life on. Depressing?? It's the most uplifting film you'll ever watch.....

janeite · 23/12/2008 14:04

Edward Scissorhands was our film for last year's Christmas Eve. This year we've got "The Nightmare before Christmas" so it seems there's a bit of a Tim Burton theme going on in the Janeite household.

PoinsettiaPussyCat · 23/12/2008 14:05

Fargo

Plenty of snow there too!

mankymummy · 23/12/2008 14:05

Mamma Mia !!!!!!!!!!!!!

moonshine · 23/12/2008 14:10

We watched 'Nightmare before Christmas' yesterday

janeite · 23/12/2008 14:11

Is it good? I've never seen it.

Poppycake · 23/12/2008 14:27

I've not yet been able to watch It's a WL without bawling my eyes out... it's a fantastic film! Tho we might be re-enacting it this Christmas with the credit crunch...

moonshine · 23/12/2008 16:04

Nightmare very good - Burton sure has a twisted mind though!

poinsettydog · 23/12/2008 16:10

It's a wonferful life is very warm and life-affirming.

Nightmare Before Christmas is very darkly funny

janeite · 23/12/2008 17:55

Darkly funny sounds good! Thanks.

Tinkjon · 23/12/2008 22:25

IAWL has DH and I bawling (in a good way) even as soon as the opening credits start! Yes it's depressing at first but in a 'it makes the happy ending even happier' way.
