DH thinks this is a great idea. How do you do it? I think he is going to step in a tray of flour. It will be the first year we have done it.

yousaidit · 19/12/2008 20:43

i think that's fab, i saw that tip in the childrens society christmas pamphlet you could order last year

it also handily tipped to let your dcs put their new christmas jim jams on on christmas eve so when they are tearing open their presents on christmas day morning on the photos / video they look nice and smart in mew jim jams!!!

llareggub · 19/12/2008 20:45

I really am too much of a slattern to do this as the footprints would remain until next christmas.

iv done every year now for oldist dd shes 24y and youngist is 18m i still do it and dd1 says she always loved it

i put a tiny bit of flour in a sieve and sprinkle it about ( not to much) and sprinkle mixed colour glitter on top and use dh shoes to make foot prints round tree and even where we leave mince pies and milk had some to plate . so easy to clean after but it does look good

you could also get some porridge oats and glitter in a cute little bag for 'reindeer food'

twinklingtrace2 · 19/12/2008 21:09

We always sprinkle glitter around the fireplace and near the stockings in the DC's bedrooms . We tell them its the magic dust which gets FC around the world so quickly!

BananaFruitBat · 20/12/2008 00:32

I always leave the occasional sprinkle of glitter during December. Santa really does check you know.

We do it but with icing sugar rather than flour; I have no idea why it started out as icing sugar years ago but since then, we've stuck to it! The girls are too old for it really now but we will probably do it anyway!
