Firemen came round our street with Father Christmas on the fire engine!!! I don't think it gets any better than that combo when you are 2 1/2. His eyes were all sparkly and he hardly spoke while we followed the engine all round the estate. one lovely Fireman wound his window down and waved at ds. Lovely.

Awww I know my ds 2.11 would lurve that, so would mummy come to think of it

deaconblue · 17/12/2008 11:20

yes my sister and I were discussing the FACT rather than myth that all firefighters are gorgeous. In fact will start a new thread..

Lol

The Rotary Club does the same here - the first year ds saw it he was entranced. So was I!

Sadly this year he said 'oh, it's just one of the helpers'. So cynical at five years' old! (He still wanted to watch them all the way round the street, though.)

edam · 17/12/2008 11:32

Sadly not all firefighters are gorgeous. I have talked to dozens of them (when ds was little he would make a bee line for them) and the gorgeous ones have never been there. Very nice chaps but not stunners.

SatsumaMoon · 17/12/2008 12:52

You need to move a leetle bit further south Edam!

edam · 17/12/2008 18:18

How far south?

I am acquainted with scores of digger drivers and firefighters thanks to ds. One very nice fireman spent ages with him - he was on his own while the rest of the crew were doing a fire safety check at a hotel. Let ds climb into the engine and pretend to drive. And mini-digger driver working in our road once allowed ds to work the controls. Have to say every driver/fighter ds has ever admired has been very friendly!

Hmmm, I had a very well oiled binman come round yesterday evening looking for a Christmas tip. Not so exciting for my LO when we opened the door expecting carols singers or similar

Still when he nearly fell over the gate it did cheer me slightly.

I He would have loved festive firemen...

jollyoldstnickschick · 17/12/2008 19:02

My dh was a plant delivery driver and often had women flaggin his lorry down so their dc could have a look around etc

chloemegjess · 17/12/2008 19:07

Thats really good of them to do that!

And no, not all firefighters are good looking.

new fella's best mates are all firemen. it is rather distracting at times.

but yes they are all gorgeous in their uniforms...when they are in civvies they just don't have teh same "phwoar" factor

mckenzie · 17/12/2008 19:16

my friend's husband is a fireman and is he GORGEOUS. Gorgeous looking and a gorgeous personality too. My friend is also gorgeous inside and out too.

Lotster · 17/12/2008 19:18

Why do the drivers always seems the yummiest? Maybe it's because they wear t-shirts so they can manouvere the wheel and you get to see their muscles..... mmm, think I'd better go before I get in trouble!!

Posey · 17/12/2008 20:43

I was going to post very similar thread (and have to agree about firemen)
Ds was on his way back from birthday party with 2 friends and friends mum, busy tree spotting in people's windows. Then who should come round the corner but Father Christmas on a sleigh, playing carols. He stopped, chatted to the boys, asked them what they wanted for Christmas and gave them all a helium balloon. They were totally bowled over

Only problem is ds says he asked for a blue knitted basket. Can anyone help

kyrasmummy · 17/12/2008 21:50

The same thing happened here tonight, my DS was over

ChasingSquirrels · 17/12/2008 21:54

FC on Thomas - that's just BLISS to a 2/3yo boy.

katiechops · 17/12/2008 21:58

The rotary club came round last night, unfortunately for DD it was at 8pm and she was sound asleep.

Now, if any hunky firemen want to come round tonight, I'd be very happy!

nappyaddict · 17/12/2008 22:28

santa used to come round on a sleigh here but they haven't done it for years

elkiedee · 17/12/2008 22:42

I'm sure DS would love it. He gets really excited by the binmen collecting the rubbish, he likes to watch and wave and they wave back. Unfortunately they don't seem to be doing any of it at the usual time the last few weeks.

Lotster · 18/12/2008 10:06

Elkie, they're all getting pissed and coming to my house...

For any of you who are near or can get to the Oxford area, the LO's can meet Thomas the Tank Engine at Didcot Railway:
here
Meant to take my son to see Santa and Thomas but didn't get organised in time...
