Way back in october dd saw a barbie doll set with two dolls and two mini dolls in the same box. they are from princess and the pauper. Woolworths esclusive set. not too expensive but after debating dh and i decided not to buy it from santa for her as she has lots similar already.

since then we've been trying to persuad her that an airel and belle doll would complete her princess set and be a better request from the main man! DD is 4 btw.

she's not having any of it!!!!!!!!!!! everytime she is aksed what santas bringing she says, i'm hoping for the two dollies set witht he two little ones. I've told her santa sometimes runs out of dolls and might she wnat something else? but no, she still asking for them!

Trouble is now woolies have sold out. the only place i can find the set is ebay where they want nearly £30 for it! was about £12 in the shops!

What do i do? we've bought the airel and belle ones whcih i know she'll love and she'll have lots of other bits from santa but am just worried about her not beliveing if she doesn't get what she has been after! last year she chose a my little pony jewllery box which she got and still rememebrs who got it for her.

Don't wnat to spoil her am just wondering what to do! This is buzz lightyear for us!

Can you afford to stretch to £30? It would be worth it if she wants it so much (maybe you could return the other dolls to cover the cost???)

eleanorsmum · 16/12/2008 21:36

could get there i suppose but have already spent enough really! can't take other dolls back as they were from woolies

she's not the sort to demand much really and don't wnat to disappoint her but also don't wnat her to start thinking she'll get whatever she asks for! who's idea was santa anywya!!

I would buy it from ebay if I were you.

SnowballsintheSky · 16/12/2008 21:44

So would I. A preliminary google has shown up nothing. IME if you let the ebay one go and try to work round it, you'll be kicking your own arse all Christmas Day.

stillthinkinaboutit · 16/12/2008 21:54

will ebay get it to you on time??? perhaps its worth a go but there are no guarantees you'll have it in time for the big day. probably best to stick to your origional plan. she wont stop believing lots o children forget the things they didnt get when they've got so many other great things to play with.

strawberrycornetto · 16/12/2008 21:58

Get it. My DD is 4 and she wanted a barbie van from Santa. Turns out it is a mobile home/jacuzzi which is pretty horrid, so I thought she would forget about it and was going to get something else. My wise mum told me she has being consistent and that she would be disappointed. She was right, 6 weeks later she's still mentioning it every time we talk about father christmas. Little girls are very stubborn, especially when it comes to barbie

Rachmumoftwo · 16/12/2008 22:05

I would get it from Ebay. They only believe in the whole santa thing for a few years so I would try to keep it as magical as possible. Can you ebay the other dolls to top up your paypal account if money is tight?

dmo · 16/12/2008 23:17

is there an aunt, grandma etc stuck for an idea?
buy it from e-bay and sell aunt/grandma the airel or belle doll

sb6699 · 16/12/2008 23:32

DD wanted this as well. Have compromised and bought two princess dolls (jasmine and someone or other) and you can buy the little dolls (sorry can't remember what they're called) complete with a pony type thing for a couple of pounds in sainsburys atm.

baublerock · 16/12/2008 23:47

This one ends tomorrow.

eleanorsmum · 17/12/2008 07:27

just bid on it - i so hope we get it at that price! Have spoken to other reli's and they are giving her money - so we'll have to exchange some of that for the other dolls we already boguht her!

thanks so much for the advice, you're right, they only believe for such a short time i HAVE to buy this for her! tried to change her mind but as you say they can be stubborn!

Merry xmas all!

eleanorsmum · 18/12/2008 08:02

WE GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace will prevail for dd this year! have arrnaged for it to be sent first class recorded delivery to the inlaws as thats where we'll be for xmas.

thanks for all your help and offers - we tried a few woolies near us but none left! I really feel for all the staff there, I used to work for them and it must be horrid to just not know what the future holds, but i do know they are wonderful people who will make the most out of the situation.

Happy Xmas all

I spotted one of these sets in Woolies way back in October so bought it for DD as Princess and the Pauper (Barbie style) is her absolute favourite film ever .

When out shopping a few weeks later, DD literally had a meltdown because I refused to buy them for her, muttering something about waiting to see what Santa bought.

She will be absolutely thrilled, it is the only thing she has kept on about for weeks so I am happy to have found the one thing she really wants.

Well done on your win, your DD will be chuffed to bits on Christmas day

eleanorsmum · 18/12/2008 08:14

we should have bought it back then too! thats when dd saw it!

I've just realised too that we've bought her the dvd to go with the set without realising they were the same! got it of ebay for a £1 a while back, only just dawned on me its the same dolls! even more pleased we took the plunge and got it for her!
