What do you give Carol Singers???

I've just had my first 2 turn up, older sister with her little brother. They sang the first bit of We Wish you a Merry Christmas, and then there was a brief pause - I was all ready to ask where the rest of the song was - but they continued with it.

The older girl then sang Jingle Bells (longer version) on her own.

Realised I don't really have anything to give Carol singers........and not really sure what you give them anyhow

some chocolates - usually quality street

AdventCandleQueen · 16/12/2008 18:57

I'd ask for some proper bloody carols first!

Then I'd give them a nice smile and a little wave goodbye.

Humbug

Yes chocolate .

no idea i'm afraid, i would prob give them a lolly or a couple of pennies if they were young kids

Advent - trust me compared to what we usually get round here that was quite impressive .

Usually you get

We wish you a merry Christmas, We wish you a merry Chrsitmas, We wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

and that's your lot!!

these go down well

I ended up giving them a lollipop each (as that's all I had in) the little boy looked thrilled, older sister forced a smile. But they were polite, they said thankyou and wished me a Happy Christmas (usually get a grunt and off they go without a further word).

Ahh yes - Chocolates of course - that's we exH and I used to give them - usually have them in from the start of December - but haven't got any yet! Will invest in a box on Thursday - and if I get no more Carol Singers DS's and I will just have to finish them ourselves

I thought they were after hard cash only.

Ours always want money after a teenage squawk through one verse of something unrecognisable.

So nothing. I tell them to hop it.
