We don't live in England but are coming to stay over xmas with our families. DS1 has been asking for a scooter since the start of the year - we have always told him he must wait until Christmas when he is a bigger boy. He has chosen one and it's just one that we can get in the country we live in - not in England....

Anyhows, the scooter arrived this week. We thought it would be in bits and that we could take it over in our suitcase/box as oversized baggage...It turns out that it's in 2 pieces - the body which is really large and then the handlebars.

We have enough baggage allowance to bring it with us as it only weighs about 5kg or so - it's just we needto think about how to bring it - probably in a big holdall or in the box and out it through oversize baggage.

Anyway, do you think it's really neccesary for ds1 to open it on xmas day? Do you think we could leave it at home for him to open when we get back or do you think it has to come with us to prevent a very upset boy? Interested to know what other folks would do.

As he's still young I'd say you can get away with waiting til after xmas - I'm sure he'll be inundated with pressies if you're staying with families.

I expect he will probably forget about the scooter when he opens his other presents. If you think otherwise could you not give it to him before you travel?

thanks for your thoughts

I'd give it to him now, before you go. My DS is 2.9 and I am sure he will be inundated with presents if everyone gives him something on Christmas day. My mum bought him some little things and we have given them to him because he is far more thrilled with new toys one at a time.
