i bought a clear plastic hook in the range for 1.99. looks great

DoubleBluff · 15/12/2008 22:06

they sell wreath hooks in Home base
I use gold ribbon which i thread over the door and sellotape down
I use sellotape for everything

bigTillyMint · 15/12/2008 22:06

Nails. Little ones!

whoingodsnameami · 15/12/2008 22:06

You can buy wreath hooks in most shops that sell wreaths, unless you dont mind hammering a great big nail in your door.

scrooged · 15/12/2008 22:07

I wound some thin wire around it and hung it on the number on my front door. This worked. Lakeland also sell sucker things that stick to glass.

callmeovercautious · 15/12/2008 22:07

I use a big cable tie and attach it to the door knocker - also doubles up as a deterrant for all those pesky carol singers

choccyp1g · 15/12/2008 22:08

If you have a wooden door, you can put a nail in, or get a metal hook thing that folds over the top of the door (like the "over-door hangers" that you get in catalogues and (sob) woolworths. If however, like the vast majority of people nowadays you have a plastic door, or a draught excluder arrangement at the top of your door, then you are f*cked. Sellotape is not strong enough. Mine has fallen off twice already.

shootRudolphinthehip · 15/12/2008 22:10

Tie a bit of ribbon around the wreath, pull ribbon over the top of your door and secure in the inside with a large drawing pin. Works for me every year

bellaBuonNatalevita · 15/12/2008 22:10

Plastic wreath hanger from B&Q about £1.99

choccyp1g · 15/12/2008 22:11

Doublebluff, I like the sound of your ribbon, because I can put lots more sellotape on the inside. And perhaps cover it up with something else. I think ordinary sticky tape stops working at about 0 degrees.

Double bluff, sorry, double post

Guadalupe · 15/12/2008 22:13

I banged in a big nail. I noticed it there the other day and thought bonus, we can hang this year's straight up.

jollyoldstnickschick · 15/12/2008 22:13

what i have done is stuck a white plastic hook on the inside of my upvc door threaded some christmas ribbin through the wreath looped it over the door(because its thin ribbon the door still seals then ive tied the ribbon around the hook.

psychohohohoho · 15/12/2008 22:17

my friend used her staple gun.

of course, she then had a power rush and stple gunned everything in the entire house that stood still for more than two minutes.......

her husband was not so pleased

LaSparklyTourEiffel · 15/12/2008 22:19

I'm guessing its a smidging excessive to suggest buying a second wreath to hang on the inside so that you can tie one to each end of a ribbon and it be perfectly weighted

whomovedmychocolate · 15/12/2008 22:20

If you go to WHSmith you can get sticky pads which are sticky on both sides and they are very good at keeping them on plastic doors*.

*Not that I'm allowed a plastic door, if I don't have a door which has been whittled from a rare tree which grows only in a remote village by 85 year old craftsmen who have been whittling for 300 years in the local area the bloody council fines me

ClausImWorthIt · 15/12/2008 22:23

A hook with an eye at one end and a screw end IYSWIM, screwed into the door on the inside, just underneath your letter box.

String, threaded through the eye, and fed through the letterbox, then round the wreath on the outside and tied tightly.

tassisssss · 16/12/2008 15:47

thank you everyone!

i have a upvc goor got a sticky hook in the supermarket

chloemegjess · 16/12/2008 16:04

If you have a door knocker then you could tie it to that?

Bathsheba · 16/12/2008 16:29

Clear fishing line - I tie it round the wreath, over the top of the door, and then pin it on the inside. Then agin around the bottom and through the letterbox...

Works perfectly but only with a wooden door.

I tried a wreath hook but my door wouldn;t close with it over the top

callmeovercautious · 16/12/2008 23:38

Fishing line is genius Bathsheba Off to tackle the tackle box!

tassisssss · 17/12/2008 22:19

i still haven't done this

aaargh
