Amazon vouchers for friends in USA - dollars or pounds?

I'd like to give some Amazon vouchers to friends in USA. Would it be better for them and me to order in £ via Amazon.co.uk, or $ via Amazon.com?

I always give dollars for Amazon.com to my nephews and nieces in the US and they always give pounds on Amazon.co.uk to my DC here in the UK. We've been doing this for years.

Go for the local one, then they can get free postage.
