Not in back of wardrobe or under bed. Not in cupboard under stairs. Not in garage...am running out of places to look. One of the presents is huuuge box of all the Lemony Snicket books - how can that disappear?

Once I'd grown up I discovered this used to happen to my mother every year.

When we'd worked out who brought the presents but were still playing along for the parents' benefit (bless them, we didn't want to spoil the magic for them) we were really puzzled when some dolls we found in the linen bin didn't turn up on Christmas Day. Asked my mother about it years later and she said 'I completely forgot where I'd put the damn things, I wish you'd told me!'

I did that a few years ago, bought a Blazer (DS is Team Captain of local Rugby Club), wrapped it, God knows where I put it!

We are moving house the week after Christmas, wanna bet I find it then?

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 15/12/2008 12:21

Did you ask someone else to store them for you?
Erm, garage? shed? on top of the wardrobe?

My mum did this when I was about 9. She found a game in the wardrobe in February. I was there but she still insisted on putting it away until my birthday in April

My dp hid a book for me in the microwave, we don't use it very often. I found it a couple of weeks after christmas!

ramonaquimby · 15/12/2008 12:28

edam - that hilarious!! we would find small choc easter eggs months later after our 'treasure hunts' - tasted just as nice though

this reminds me that I need to go through the house and find everything too

ChopsTheDuck · 15/12/2008 12:32

I've also misplaced a load of books! Most of mien came online, and would arrive while there were curious eyes looking, so I've stuffed it in odd corners all over the house.

in the loft?

edam · 15/12/2008 12:34

Yeah, my MIL is forever finding chocolate eggs in her garden, months after Easter.

My mother got her own back on us one year, though, swapped our presents with a family friend who had boys. We were really confused when we went looking and found Action Men...

dearprudence · 15/12/2008 12:36

I've lost some Clone Wars stickers. Looked everywhere for the little buggers.

But I can't imagine losing all the presents.

kyrasmummy · 15/12/2008 13:15

My friend did this, though there wasn't many pressies on xmas day, months later she found a suitcase full of wrapped pressies she'd stashed away.

randomxmas · 15/12/2008 13:16

In a kitchen cupboard?

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/12/2008 20:49

DH said that I hadn't concealed them adequately and they were stashed at the back of his wardrobe, in a box with his old trainers sitting on top!

Phew! Don't think I've losy anything else - yet!
