we haven't yet, buying one today

VivaLaPotPourri · 15/12/2008 08:17

I haven't - 1) I do not feel remotely Christmassy yet and 2) I am waiting until the flooring is down, I have to do a fresh coat of paint before that is done... Saturday evening at the very soonest.

JackieNoCribForABed · 15/12/2008 08:17

We haven't yet - not sure when it will happen, tbh.

Miggsie · 15/12/2008 08:26

We also do not put up the tree till the Sunday before Christmas.

needmorecoffee · 15/12/2008 08:27

not yet. My mum is giving us her old artificial tree cos ours broke last year (after 20 years). Haven't got round to going and fetching it.

BellsCarolsNSleighs · 15/12/2008 08:28

glad I'm not the only one!!
(VLPP.. I have just painted my dining room cloak, stairs and landing!! have pinned a roll of paper over the hole in the ceiling whilst we wait for it to finish drying.. so at least there isn't a great whopping gap showing!!)

NO, hasn't arrived yet.

larry5 · 15/12/2008 12:52

We haven't as we have had so many things on. (teenage daughter). We have even had to book an evening in together as dd complained that she didn't help put the decorations up last year and it was the only way to ensure that we would all be in!

PortAndStilton · 15/12/2008 12:55

Ours is going up Friday/Saturday, too -- probably decorating Saturday morning, I think.

FromGirders · 15/12/2008 12:57

Last weekend before Christmas for us too. Have a few other decorations about though.

themoon66 · 15/12/2008 12:59

I've not done anything remotely christmasy yet. I plan to buy a small real tree next Saturday and fish the trimmings out of the loft. I cannot remember if I even have a working set of lights.

yellowvan · 15/12/2008 13:02

Mine's going up sunday (and coming down on Boxing day)
Humbug.

Poledra · 15/12/2008 13:03

Ours is not yet up - weekend before Christmas here too. I'd get fed up of it before the actual day if I did it much earlier.

Lauriefairyonthetreeeatscake · 15/12/2008 13:04

It's not Christmas.

It's going up Saturday when my lovely dh (teacher) and lovely dd finish school and then it will be a special start to the holidays.

XmasLollipopViolet · 15/12/2008 13:05

We (me and my gran) put ours up yesterday. So I'm feeling all festive. (So glad no kids yet, I still feel like a kid at Christmas, and I'm 19!)

ohreindeerwhatamessysleigh · 15/12/2008 13:15

Ours is arriving on Weds, and will be decorated on Friday. Ds1 is so ridiculously excited about Christmas trees this year that I haven't the heart to make him wait any longer than that.

littletownofmeglethem · 15/12/2008 13:23

we don't do ours until the weekend before either. We're doing it this sunday, then DS will probably pull it over.

piscesmoon · 15/12/2008 13:32

Not until the weekend-we have a real one and want it fresh for Christmas. You get bored with it all if you start too soon.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 15/12/2008 13:34

we will get one and put it up tomorrow. We usually have one by 5th/6th at the latest butwe had to wait for conservatory to be finished..have got DH out there now laying flooring so we can get it..although if he finishes tonight we will get it later

georgimama · 15/12/2008 13:36

Our's is going up Saturday - I finish work on Friday so then it's Christmas. DH is not pleased as he is working next week and doesn't want tree to go up until Christmas eve. I have done buying tree on Christmas eve before, it had mange. Not leaving it that long again.

Hulababy · 15/12/2008 13:40

Ours will go up this weekend. We are at Cdentre Parks for the wee at present so no pint in putting up before we went.

MorrisZapp · 15/12/2008 16:10

We were due to be getting new carpets and DH said NO WAY to getting a tree that would ruin them. I was supposed to just stick fairy lights onto our largest pot plant. Why are men so crap and grumpy about christmas joy???

Anyway great news today, the carpet order is all cocked up and isn't coming until new year now so I am secretly delighted! Bit gutted about not having the lovely new carpet yet but far better, I can have my tree as usual!

I insist on a real tree (for the smell as much as anything else) and only get a wee one but I was so sad to think we weren't having one this year.

I'll buy it on Sunday and hope it will be fresh enough to last nicely til twelfth night.

neversaydie · 15/12/2008 19:44

Ours will go up on Christmas Eve and down on 12th night. Long-standing family tradition on my side. It also helps to keep DH's mid-December birthday special rather than just another part of Christmas.

SnowMuchToBits · 15/12/2008 19:57

Mine's coming Thursday, and will be decorated Thursday or Friday. It will be a real one. About a week before Christmas is reasonable I think.
