Why did my Christmas lights suddenly stop working?????

I've just put the lights up around the window.

I laid them out in a long line in the lounge/diner and switched them on. One bulb had gone, but the rest were glowing no problem.

I've spent 1/2hr getting the lights around the window - plugged them in..............and they're not glowing - what happened???

one might have got loose while you were putting them up?

doesn't make a difference with this set - last year one had gone - I took it out, and couldn't get the new one in so left it out and they still worked (lovely new set that doesn't have all the bulbs on the same circuit ).

I currently have 2 rather disappointed boys as I said I'd put switch the lights on (they usually only go on when it's dark) while I had a break before putting the lights on the tree and then letting them loose on it - eek!

on some sets they have the normal bulbs, and then one with a white tip which is a fuse bulb - if that goes it puts them all out.
The bulb will be noticably different to the rest.
Right, off to my parents to see family - and have ds's delivered back to me

aha - thanks yes found one of those, and also found a pack (unopened) of spare bulbs - including a fuse one, tried it in and they're still not working

thanks everyone - I've given up on lights on the windows this year.

Had the long string of lights - carefully put around the windows (bay window - so several "bits" to do), a flashing neon "merry Christmas" , and a star.........

The Merry Christmas came crashing down about 20 minutes ago, the star slowly slipped down adn fell off about 10 minutes ago. So the whole are coming off and the DS's have said it's fine not to have window lights this year.

Thankfully I decided to swap the strings of lights around this year. Put the twinkly lights on the tree, and the bog standard boring ones on the window. So we have a lovely twinkly tree
