champagne

RiojaLover75 · 13/12/2008 20:12

Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with brown bread and butter for DH and I , possibly a glass of champagne with it .

DS's don't like salmon so they'll be having pain au chocolate and fruit smoothies.

Wha hoo, can't wait!

MrsMattie · 13/12/2008 21:20

I cook the Christmas ham on Xmas Eve and we have it with eggs (and lots of bubbly)

DesperateHousewifeToo · 13/12/2008 21:50

Normal breakfast. Cereal/toast, tea.

No main presents allowed to be openned until all had breakfast and not even allowed into 'present room' until everyone up!

Stockings have to suffice for a while

DesperateHousewifeToo · 13/12/2008 21:51

Plus a few choccies whilst waiting, of course.

janeite · 13/12/2008 22:02

The dds are allowed cocoa pops: the only day in the year on which they get them. Plus croissants and jam and fruit. Dp and I have croissants and fruit or croissants with cheese (and ham for dp) and mushrooms.

janeite · 13/12/2008 22:03

We have a drink, then some presents, then breakfast, then more presents. No chocolate allowed until 11.00am and then only one or two. After lunch they are allowed as much as they want.

theramones · 13/12/2008 22:07

When our kids were little we would have porridge followed by boiled egg and soldiers. The way I see it, when kids are little they need a decent breakfast, because they got so exicted that they ate very little after breakfast.
Now, we have a fry up.

Colonelcupcake · 13/12/2008 22:10

Toast with whatever the kiddies fancy same as usual accompianied with a large coffee

bozza · 13/12/2008 22:13

Don't know yet - will put it to family vote tomorrow if I remember...

ilovemyghds · 13/12/2008 22:21

Cup of tea in bed for DH and I whilst DCs open stockings (DCs are quite little) - I am going to put an innocent smoothie or something in the stocking for them. Then downstairs to open presents. Will chop up fresh fruit the night before and have these out for the DCs to grab at whilst opening/playing with new toys. Will also try this year to make some muffins and DH and I can have these with fruit and nice coffee. Will not be doing a sit down breakfast. If they want cereal after presents/fruit/muffings then they can sit at table for that!

Have salmon/scrambled egg type breakfast planned for boxing day before we go off to the relatives.

ilovemyghds · 13/12/2008 22:22

Am BF and in charge of 3 small children so not much alcohol for me. Will prob have a small glass of bubbly whilst preparing dinner though. Maybe late morning.

just the normal (cereal). we are having xmas lunch chez the inlaws and xmas dinner a few hours later at my parent's so to have an enormous breakfast too would be overkill!

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 14/12/2008 07:38

We usually just have a bacon sandwich and DC have toast and chocolate
No alcohol as always seem to be either pregnant or just given birth..maybe next year

eidsvold · 14/12/2008 08:07

scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with bucks fizz!

laweaselmys · 14/12/2008 08:33

I always used to have christmas cake and champagne.

This year DP and I have decided to have a three course leisurely breakfast over the course of the morning, incorporating

maple spice cake with orange icing and champagne

pain au chocolat

A fry-up (probably not full english but whatever is requested!)

Having said that we don't have any lunch at all usually and have the big meal at dinner time - so this is at least partially to soothe my PG cravings for little and often food.

GColdtimer · 14/12/2008 09:30

I was just wondering this. A new patisserie has opened in town (only a 5 min walk and open on a Sunday - really not good for the waistline). It is run by a French couple and they make the most gorgeous almond croissants. So I think that will be it for us with a pain au chocolat for dd. And fresh coffee. Will have a drink when I get to my mums about midday probably.

DH requested a full english but I told him not to be ridiculous - my mum cooks enough lunch to feed the whole town

notevenamousie · 14/12/2008 09:41

We used to hate our forced cooked breakfast because we were wanting to open presents!

So once dd is older (she'll be just 2) she can have a vote - I will plan to do eggy bread or similar that is tidy to eat, just do a big pile, nice juice, real coffee, and some treaty fruit, and no pressure on anyone.

My mum pours the Bucks Fizz around 11am... I have bought some pink prosecco instead this year - mmmm just the one though I think... I'll be unable to cook the lunch otherwise!!!

debbiewebweb · 14/12/2008 09:51

cinnamon and raison bagels - big christmas tradition here

mamhaf · 14/12/2008 14:44

A mixture of dried fruits like apricots nad prunes stewed in cinnamon, cloves and orange juice with cream - I'll prepare it the day before. I've done this for a few years now and it's scrummy.

Fresh coffee at breakfast time then champagne at about 12 noon while cooking lunch.

We'll have 14 warringfactions friends and relatives here for lunch this year, so I intend to be nicely tipsy relaxed.

lilacclaire · 14/12/2008 15:47

We usually have a fry up, but after reading this am thing croissants, less hassle!

Cupofteaplease · 14/12/2008 17:37

We will be having Nigella's mini muffins and Lucky Charms cereal. Just made a trip to our local American food stockists and bought a box of Lucky Charms for £7 At that price these are DEFINITELY being saved for a festive breakfast!
