We always usually buy for one another but due to money constraints this year we have said we won't bother.
Feel a bit sad that we won't have a present to open on the day though.
Have thought about suggesting a ten pound limit stocking but guess it would be wasting money on tat!

I've seen people say they are not bothering this year on other threads.

You could do a voucher thing instead where you promise to do something for the other person.

we're not doing anything. the voucher idea is a good one actually. You could set a voucher limit of 5 things or however you decide to do it....

We haven't for years now.

Apart from a couple of years ago, we needed a new doormat and a teacosy, so DH gave me a teacosy and I gave him a doormat.

It was hilarious!!

We're not doing it this year. Have spent money on the DS's but it seem silly to buy stuff for the sake of it for each other. Might suggest we get each other a CD (or something else similarly exciting!) so that the DS's don't wonder why we don't have anythign to unwrap. Don't want it to be said that I must have been a naughty girl this year!

we are doing presents but also did an advent calendar tree with toilet roll tubes - its very blue peter, and dh, ds and I get a wee present every three days - we set a £10 limit on the 8 presents each for the calendar and its amazing what you can find that isnt actually tat for that sort of money - was quite fun finding things that he'd actually like for not very much money, so the stocking idea could be fun to do.

We usually have a small budget limit. I have bought him socks and underwear but he has needed to be given those early for the sake of decency (what do men do to their underwear??)so I don't know if he's due anything else. Oh yes, he does have apresent, a card wallet.

We do 'tree presents' to a similar budget, hollytree- it's amazing what useful stuff you can find for that sort of money.
