Do you want wooden? The best chess set ds1 has is one that they use at tournaments. It rolls up and the pieces are plastic but universal for tournaments. He also has a bag to put it in.

frumpygrumpy · 11/12/2008 22:34

I have no idea what I want!

She doesn't play tournaments. She just learned lately and loves it. I just thought I could get her something a little less formal than some of those wooden ones. But the less formal ones seem to be Peter Rabbit for big prices and boards not included.

Lego have a Knights' Kingdom Chess set on sale in their shops at the moment - £14.99 www.lego.com/eng/knights/productsgames.asp?pid=G678

here

This is quite sweet for a little girl

we have a really cute little Haba one, in a tin. I can't find it in the UK though. you're not in Germany by any chance?
Otherwise, just get her a simple wooden set. We have a Harry potter set, a star wars set and various others but the boys always come back to the plain one as it's easier to identify the pieces.
Hang on a minute though,...Woolworths had a character set for girls, that's where we got the Star wars one.

Got one in Poundland yesterday, it is plain though.
Guess how much it cost....

ingles2 · 12/12/2008 14:08

The lego set is lovely and all comes in its own case. lego.co.uk or lego.com

pigleypudding · 14/12/2008 16:33

Frumpy--
Sorry I didn't see it was out of stock

this is the website of whos makes it. I can only see the boys blue and white version though. You could try calling them to see if they have any pink/purple ones.

Ill keep looking for you as I know how frustrating it is when you see what you want but cant get it.. Especially as time is running out quick!

frumpygrumpy · 14/12/2008 18:03

oh pigley, no worries, thank you for it. I'd googled a few places but hadn't see one like that on any search and its great. I will call later when children are all in bed or call tomorrow. Cheers hen x.
