We're having a party and we're going to screen something but I have run out of ideas and I need some inspiration.

Nothing too scary!

TIA

The Santa Clause
The Santa Clause 2
The Santa Clause 3
The Polar Express
Elf
The Muppets Christmas Carol

Lemontart · 10/12/2008 11:24

Elf is hilarious. My kids watch it over and over so no problem if others have seen it
Santa Clause is cool too.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 10/12/2008 11:26

elf, Muppet christmas movie, The Grinch, Home Alone

ACL · 10/12/2008 11:26

Garfield
Enchanted (bit scary in middle but OK)
Curse of Were Rabbit - Wallace/Gromit (scary again sorry)
Mr Bean
Fab Johnny English with Rowan Atkinson again (but funeral scene in middle)
Muppets!
Cats and Dogs
Mary Poppins
Nanny McPhee
Herbie ............

Try looking at Youtube for ideas too

Raymond Briggs' 'The Snowman' is a classic and because there is no speaking it is ideal for people to dip in and out of without losing the plot.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 10/12/2008 12:59

How about The Nightmare Before Christmas. Not particularly scary - my 4 year old has watched it many times - and has beautiful animation.

foothesnoo · 10/12/2008 15:49

oooh lots of good ideas here - keep em coming.

Elf is looking possible - we've not seen it. Wjhat's Polar Express about, anyone know?

motomoto · 10/12/2008 16:01

Polar Express is brilliant - about a surreal train journey to the North Pole

TheInvisibleManDidItWithSanta · 10/12/2008 16:02

We watched Fred Claus on fri eve with our ds's 6 & 8. They thought it was brilliant

ScummyMummy · 10/12/2008 16:05

Home Alone and Elf

sophy · 10/12/2008 18:47

We always watch The Snowman together on xmas eve just before bedtime.

Polar Express also very good.

Miracle on 34th street ?

Flamesparrow · 10/12/2008 19:11

muppets!

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 11/12/2008 14:49

flame, how dare you call us all muppets. You Muppet!!

MorrisZapp · 11/12/2008 15:17

Not Miracle on 34th street!!!

It was on at the weekend and I watched it in expectation of having my cockles warmed etc. The wee girl is very cute but in all honesty it's a courtroom drama and I cannot imagine any kids having the interest or patience to watch it all the way through.

Muppets for me, every time. Mind you, the ghost of christmas yet to come scares me and I'm 37!

Also Ice Age, it isn't specifically a christmas film but the chilly theme goes down very well at this time of year.
