Am considering getting this for my nephews aged 11 and 13 for X-box. Is on Amazon with wireless guitar for £63.

Apparently they favour the x-box over other consoles, but my general question is, is this a really good game? Would the band one be better/more easy to share?

I'm entirely out of the loop with what's the in thing for kids at the moment. Or indeed for the last twenty years...

If I'm right, then you can download extra songs for Guitar hero on x-box 360.

I assume that theu have the XBox to play it on?

its really good fun. Ds 13 has it for Playstation and dd, 11 and ds, 7 also play it (I've even had a go myself after a few glasses of vino) We bought it for Christmas last year and its still used if that's any help

We have Rockband for PS3, which includes Guitar Hero. It is great fun - but I prefer the drums to the guitar

Rockband IS more family orientated as 3 can play - more if a friend brings another guitar, but it is more expensive.

Wow, I only spend about £15 on my Nieces, Nephews...

Well I don't usually spend that much tbh but it seems a bit rubbish to get them the game without the guitar to play it on - think it would be a major disappointment! Plus I have been a rubbish aunt in past years and forgotten birthdays, etc.

Yes they already have the x-box (I'm definitely not that generous!!)

Its a great game, really addictive, excellent fun and no shooting or car chases

Guitar Hero World Tour is more expandable. Rock Band is a different game with different instruments, don't know how much the instruments are interchangeable on Xbox (they're not at all on the Wii).

If they like music, they will probably like it. The tunes do tend towards the 'old gimmer' end, particularly from the POV of kids this young, I think.

FrostyTheSnowMin · 08/12/2008 20:14

They seem to be into all that American rock/emo stuff like My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, etc.

World Tour is £90 with guitar so I think I might just stick with the basic version (there's no one to go halves with).

Cheers, thanks for everyone's help - saves me having to do a separate amazon order!
