We've finally decided we will buy one for DS1....now I can only find stupidly expensive ones. I have orded on from HMV, but with no guarentee we will have it by Christmas.

Can anyone help?

We had this last year.
All I can say is be persistent. Keep looking and phoning and pop into shops to ask the dates of deliveries, and try to get there early on those days.
We finally got one in Game 2 days before Christmas last year.
This year we got one for DD, a pink one, but got it in November because I was so worried we would have a repeat performance. Fingers crossed for you!

Oh dear. You could try this site which updates you of availability. Keep an eye on it though as the cheap stock goes quickly.

Are you worried about what colour? Morrisons had some in as did Argos and Waterstones - Good luck

Hulababy · 08/12/2008 18:38

Find out what day your local stores such as Game have deliveries. Then phone up first thing and ask to reserve one.

Hulababy · 08/12/2008 18:40

Any particular colour and games you are interested in?

www.wii-consoles.co.uk/nintendo-ds-in-stock.asp This stock checker website is very useful. Good luck!

What do you mean by stupidly expensive?

I ordered one from Amazon today. £119 with one game, Nintendogs. That's £10 cheaper than Argos.

Apparently there are dangerous fakes around this year, so I wouldn't buy from eBay or the like.

LynetteScavo · 08/12/2008 20:42

argos sold out of green as I was on line!

I'll search Amazon again. Pink and turquoise wouldn't go down well - He may have to put up with white if I can find it!

Morrisons were selling them today.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 08/12/2008 22:35

Try Zavvi. We bought DS1 and 2 theirs from there and they were only £95 each instead of £100 + elsewhere. They also offer free delivery.

MrsMerryHenry · 08/12/2008 22:39

PMSL - thought 'DS lite' meant OP was hoping to buy a new son who would be less hassle than the current model!

MerlinsBeard · 08/12/2008 22:41

are DSs hard to find this year then? Seems to be normal amounts whenever i have been in shops recently (not meaning to brag) try out of the norm places like Comet (even tho they will LIE to you) and PC World(yes really! We got our wii from there!)

LynetteScavo · 08/12/2008 22:47

mumofmonsters - I don't do real life shopping - I just internet by from my cave by night - so I have no idea what is actually in real life shops!

Mrs Henry - you are quite right, DS's are easier to manage once they have a DS lite - they just sit quetly in the corner - hence the name, I presume!

lol @ you in your cave!

MerlinsBeard · 08/12/2008 22:50

silver at PC world

MerlinsBeard · 08/12/2008 22:52

turqiouse @ comet with a cook game

idlingabout · 09/12/2008 16:43

A friend of mine had been having the same problem but was able to find one (quite by chance) in the local branch of WH Smith. Worth a try.

SweetApril · 09/12/2008 17:06

Because of their stock problems HMV online were doing a voucher you could print off and take into an HMV store and get one for the online price (£100 incl two games) But you probably know that and it does involve GOING OUTSIDE.

UnfortunatelyMe · 09/12/2008 17:12

Ive got a turquoise one that i reserved for cod, but she hasnt came back to me, its from argos, £128, with the cook game. Reserved till tom night.
