I really don't know what to buy my dd for xmas. My dp suggested a laptop for children but I am so not keen on that. Not v xmassy and we've got a computer for the family.

My dp a techno gadget person so we've got things like nintendo's and wii's so I can't even get smaller computer things.

She had sort of mentioned a cup cake maker but I've seen other threads which makes me think that this not. What are other mumsnetters getting for their 7 year olds?

This is stuff from the current Christmas wish list.

Clothes
HSM stuff
Make a dinosaur out of plaster of paris and paint it kit
those plastic bead thingys that you stick on a form then iron.
dvds
Barbie stuff
Paints
Board Games
Books (Madeline, Horrid Henry)

Hope this helps a bit.

We asked her to do an xmas list but she said it was too early!

I gorgot about the hsm stuff - although her dad's not that keen on too much of it. I forgot i'd though about hsm cushions and the troy doll.

How about "The Chewy, Gooey, Rumble, Plop Book" from Waterstones who are doing it 1/2 price. Got this for DS(6) and some of his friends. He thinks its hilarious but it's educational as well.

Thee are good suggestions. My dp wants her to have a wow present and was talking baout an animated robot but I've stopped that. I found reviews on amazon that weren't v complimentary. thank god.

I like the idea of an enclycopedia. What's a fib finfer?

Some awful piece of plasitic that she saw in Woolies.

Oh yes, the John Lewis dog is fab! We couldn't afford it but I would have loved to got it for DS2. I was even talking to it as though it were real.

If she'd like making cakes, you could get her a mixing bowl and lots of icings, sprinkles, etc to make proper cakes.

Craft stuff?

A tent with flowers on?

A canopy for her bedroom?

I saw that dog in Selfridges recently; it is beyond hideous.
