Dp found it amongst his nerdy blogs...! a fluttery snowstorm to hang in a window, made of plain white circular stickers.

here

It says use dental floss, but we used fine sewing thread thinking it would be a bit safer if a child pulled it down (as it's less strong and would break if pulled tight).

Also, we made ours hang at random lengths to roughly about 2/3 of the way down the window, to keep them out of reach of visiting toddlers and the cat - and have filled up the bottom of the window with paper snowflakes. Looks really great.

I got the stickers from woolworths, £1.50 for two generous packs.

oooo - thanks!

KbearingGiftsWeTraverseAfar · 07/12/2008 21:07

that is a great idea and guaranteed to keep the children quiet for ages!

ChirpyGrinch · 07/12/2008 21:13

I like that. Very cute, shall try it with DD next week.
Have you also tried cutting shapes out of bread, leaving them overnight to go stale and painting them? If you poke a hole with a straw you can hang them, it's super cheap too.

We did paper chains out of dd's scribbles artwork yesterday! Great way to reuse those endless paintings and drawings and glitter.

wow, that is so effective. Had never thought of using dental floss (we don't have little ones at home or visiting any more, but good point re safety aspect for those who do.)

I did think that too sally! Wasn't sure I fancied toothpaste smell. Also sewing thread is even cheaper obviously.

I like that you could floss while looking out of the window too.

That's lovely! May I suggest you post that link in the CM Staff Room, in the morning? They are always looking for new ideas and that would be really easy for little ones to do.

Tell them I sent you and you'll be a friend for life!

KatyMac · 07/12/2008 21:45

Sorry

snowleopard · 07/12/2008 21:45

OK... but who are you in non-yuletide form MoMoMo?

I'm on my way, Katy!!

skrimbo · 07/12/2008 23:09

Like the snow circles too, don't know if we will have time to make it though, but kids could do it themselves.

snowleopard · 07/12/2008 23:17

It doesn't take long, and what's good is you do each strand separately and stick it up - so if you've got 10 mins you can just do a couple, then add more later.

Lovley idea, snowleopard

MarmadukeScarlet · 08/12/2008 12:41

I buy for 50p for 10 at IKEA make gingerbread hearts and get the DC to decorate them with white royal icing and silver balls and hang them between the bannister spindles from ribbons - looks cute and makes the house smell lovely.

MarmadukeScarlet · 08/12/2008 12:42

Sorry, just realised you weren't inviting us to put forward ideas.

I love the snowstorm and will be doing that with theDC.

NorbertDentressAngel · 08/12/2008 21:00

I had to bump this for people to see as I did the snowstorm idea with the DC this afternoon and it looks really effective

Thank you for the idea
