Are your DH/OH good at picking presents for you

Just wondered how many of you let your DH/OH pick your presents or do you hint at what you would like.

I have part done a list of what I would like and I don't ask for much on one hand I think its a good thing then at least you know you will get things you will use and not put away and forget about but on the other hand it takes the fun out of getting surprises.

Yes, DH is very good. I never ask him or give him a list.

Poledra · 05/12/2008 19:48

DH is brilliant which is a pain as I am crap for him

TheVirginGoober · 05/12/2008 19:50

He is great as I give him a list describing everything down to the finest detail, or the argos item number!
I'm sure the microwave I don't know I have (under the bed) will be a lovely surprise.

BellsCarolsNSleighs · 05/12/2008 19:55

nope.. he actually doesn't know me at all"!

starbear · 05/12/2008 19:56

I'm so fussy. My Mum and DH give up on me. before we got married he took me Florence and brought me a dress which was fab. Since then it has gone down hill. It could be my own fault as I never know what I want I'm even useless at shopping for my self anyway. I love travel but that's all a bit expensive now

BellsCarolsNSleighs · 05/12/2008 19:56

First year.. he got me a pressure cooker.. to make doing the christmas dinner easier on me!

starbear · 05/12/2008 19:57

Virgin a Microwave!!!! Does that count?? Unless the plan is that he cooks for you from now on?

SmallShips · 05/12/2008 19:58

No, last year he bought me Boots own brand aromatherapy oil (that was it), turned it over and it said in big bold letters 'DO NOT USE WHEN PREGNANT' I was 8mo gone with DD. Not pleased at all.

flamesparrow · 05/12/2008 20:05

Yes.

He tends to buy things that make me and think "what kind of a present is that???", but then when I sit and think about what he has bought, I realise it is something I made some random comment about months ago that he has stored up and remembered

TheVirginGoober · 05/12/2008 20:07

I want a microwave.
Really.
I do.

He's amazing. He spends all year making a list then buys me fab stuff when a special occasion comes along.

madrush · 05/12/2008 20:10

My DH is rubbish at presents for anyone (including the dcs which I find really sad). I have to take him to the shop, point to three items I like saying "one of these please", pretending it'll be a surprise on Christmas Day as I won't know which of the three I'm getting.

Yesterday I bought something for myself from him because I've dropped mega hints and had no response .

Fortunately he's lovely in other ways.....which I have to remind myself a lot at this time of year, but after 9 years I'm resigned to it.

francagoestohollywood · 05/12/2008 20:13

No. He doesn't have a clue. I once vaguely said that I wanted a bag. He gave me a bag (so lots of points for remembering) that was so hideous, that I almost cried

starbear · 05/12/2008 20:20

I want a really large le Creuset casserole pot but I'm going to buy it myself when I get the money
