Took the dds to local garden centre on monday. All very twee 'Story Time with FC'. Basically biscuit, story, list of requests, chocolate, bugger off, but we were able to listen in on the other children's requests.

(And yes my two did ask for the most wholesome gifts AND said thank you ).

One little boy got up there and had 'this is trite shite' written all over his face, so when FC asked him what he wanted he just shrugged
"a bell"

"a bell?"

"yes a bell, a blue bell, that is all I want"

His mother LITERALLY mouthed the words "what the fuck?" behind him.

ha ha ha ha

So now she is scouring the globe for a blue bell.

I am quite emotional over some of these

DD asked for herself.

"I want me for Cristmas" She said, pointing to herself.

FC said "Well that's rather a sureal take on it"

We'd tried to prompt her in the que to ask for smething materialistic, but no, she jsut wanted herself.

my daughter has asked santa for some, and i quote - 'green hair!.'
No idea where that has come from!!

misshardbroom · 06/12/2008 18:17

When DD was 2, all she wanted was a Laughing Cow triangle.

Needless to say, she got one.

dsrplus8 · 07/12/2008 10:21

Oh I am loving this thread, have tears in my eyes, both happy and sad.

We went to see fc yesterday, dd (6) asked for a set of pink golf clubs (me thinks Sharpay has a lot to answer for). DS however when asked said "team manija turtle game where I can kill trees". FC looks a tad bemused "...erm, that's not very ecologically friendly" (to a 3 yr old). DS responds "well the apples are full of worms so I have to zap them". FC "I'll see what I can do". HHHEEELLLPPPP!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

boogeek · 07/12/2008 10:49

All DD1 wanted last year (she was 3) was a mermaid.

littlelamb · 07/12/2008 11:00

Lovely thread. PMSL at, "scouring the globe for a blue bell" and the penguin love.

When DD was 2 she asked for "pens or penshils". I was living in a rented house at the time so they were absolutely banned until we'd moved and I had my bond money back. He must have thought DD very deprived

COV, any idea what console for - might narrow it down a little.

Littlelamb, hawkins bazaar do a growing xmas tree - only lasts a few days but might be worth a look and Toys R Us do a nice range f soft toy dinosaurs - DS had a lovely grey one from there.

My DH works as a FC at Wookey Hole. Last year I took dd (who is 16) to see the display and then dh. When asked what she wanted for Christmas dd replied a "boyfriend". I don't know who was more surprised dh or me. Unfortunately the boy friend hasn't yet materialised as she reckons all the boys at school are idiots.

By the way when my children were little I fed them the line that if FC didn't bring them what they had asked for it was because he knew what they really wanted. It seemed to work!

My 2yr old DD asked for a telescope- I was expecting her to say a fairy doll. Not sure where that came from.
