Dolls for older girls...again

OK. DD (7) has been reading 'A Little Princess' and has been on about a doll in old-fashioned clothes.

I think what she wants is something that looks like a museum piece but which is a toy as opposed to a collector's item.

So...I have looked at Corolle but even the Miss Corolle dolls look too young, I think. Rag dolls definitely out. Holz are lovely but too expensive.

Budget preferably about £20, up to £30 at a push. The size is not important, but bigger is probably slightly better.

Does such a thing exist??

btw I would consider a second-hand doll - have been looking on ebay - but I have no idea what to look for.

American Girl? I think they're quite expensive but definitly popular with the older children.

www.myriad-online.co.uk have some beautiful dolls, but much more £££, as they're handmade.

I remember a doll years ago called Victoria Rose - don't know if she still exists.

Also www.handmadepresents.co.uk.

I think you'll struggle at that price level, but I can promise you 7 y/o girls love these soft dolls.

When I was 6 or 7 my grandmother bought me a porcelain doll like these:

and I dragged the thing everywhere and it was pretty resilient. As a fervent fan of The Little Princess I always imagined this is what her doll looked like- mine even had knickerbockers which I loved.
They are about £10 I think.

dingalongcow, what an extraordinary website!

I think you could be on to something, those dolls would fit perfectly in The Little P.

Thanks for the link.
