... we have £10 each and are doing a kind of challege where we will be given points according to number of presents as well as quality of present we get for each other having spent only a tenner. This way we have stuff to open and it makes for a bit of light hearted fun. Not for everyone but we like childish competition If you are also skint and childish give it a go

We used to do this before we were married. When DH had to go back to his flat and left me shopping he would give me 20p, then £1 and finally £2!, to go shopping and get as much as I could with it.

my bf (now dh) bought me a jar of coffee and posted it to me in Ireland once. I was a student, flat broke, had Tia Maria (funnily enough and wanted to make a Calypso Coffee. My favourite present from him ever was a huge jar of nutmeg !

We always do the £10 each thing. I often make up a CD for DP as well, with favourite songs on. This year he's got Maggie Thatcher nutcrackers - you just put the nuts between her thighs and squeeze .
