he loves food and cooking, but due to being very skint all year, our cupboards are full of tesco value stuff!.

have so far bought him some belazu olive oil and gentlemens relish.

have been saving up and have 50 quid-ish.

cherryontopofthexmastree · 03/12/2008 10:40

fancy beers - just for a bit of a difference - we're doing one for FIL with fancy beers and nibbles.

stinkymonkey · 03/12/2008 14:47

Lidl and Aldi both have plenty of stuff you could file under poncey, so it doesn't have to be pricey. Their chocolate is particularly good & they do lots of nice deli stuff.

jooseyfruit · 03/12/2008 15:32

yep, i get the aldi 'mosher roth' dark chocolate and it is very nice.

just been and bought him Marmite with champagne . but he loves it. and some posh braaahn sauce!!

thanks again

tin of foie gras (if he doesn't have ethical objections)

real good bottle of red wine or some Belgian beer (made by one of the speciality brewers)

some really good quality stilton, rocquefort or truckle of organic/traditionally made cheddar ....

jooseyfruit · 03/12/2008 15:57

foie gras is a great idea, cheers.
