Can anyone help me come up with easy but brilliant ideas for Christmas costumes for 2 young dcs?

I am clueless about such things. I can sew, at a fairly basic level, but don't have a sewing machine atm, so could only handstich something, if necessary.

Need an idea for a 2.7 yo that doesn't involve wearing a hat or gloves. Not a reindeer or Father Christmas, as I think there'll be a few of those (and they'd involve headgear). Not Holly, as someone else is going as that.

9mo is going to be a Robin, but I'm not quite sure how to achieve that. He has some brown clothes, so I guess I could attach a red breast to his front somehow.

It is for a costume competition at a toddler group.

Christmas pud

robin redbreast - a red circle on brown top, fairy wings covered in brown paper...

errrrrrr

snowman (dressed in white - orange painted nose)

elf

a present - a square sandwich board wrapped up

the 'present' sounds so cute!

[wonders if own 2.3 could be persuaded with huge amounts of ribbon and bows...]

Christmas Tree - Green leggings and jumper, black boots/shoes then attach tinsel and baubles (sp?). Star hat if you can persude him/her.

Did this for my dd, and she won

(thinks back to easier days when dd wore what she was told and didnt want to be a doctor EVERY time.......)

Elf (Red/Green clothes), make a green collar out of felt and attach round top of clothes.

All brilliant ideas - thank you.

I think I'll go with the Christmas tree - sounds so cute.
