My 4 year old twins are kings in their pre school nativity. It is next friday, we were told their parts today!

The good part is we have been provided with cloaks and crowns, but were told we could add extras if we want, however it didn't sound very optional!

So what do I put with them, as in underneath the cloak?

I am absolutely rubbish at this type of thing. I have tried googling to look at ones you can buy so I can copy ideas but i'm not getting very far.

Any ideas?

Wrap up some small parcels to represent the gifts for baby Jesus (frankensense, myrrh and gold) ??

When my sons were kings they wore lots of strings of beads e.g gold(not quite sure why!) and a dark red/green top, it seemed to work quite well!

Home Bargains are selling wise men outfits for £2.99 each.

Go for the easy option and invest in a couple of Woolworths King outfits, you will probably get another xmas out of it if the school does a nativity next year. I think they might be buy 1 get 1 half price at Woolworths as I have just had to get elf costumes for school play. Otherwise you could go for smart trousers, shirt, little waistcoat and bow tie. This is what they use at pre-school (they provide all outfits)and it looks quite cute and king-ish. Wrap up a plastic bottle or box in sparkly paper and you are good to go...(to Bethlehem!)If you can't borrow or find the above just go for a colourful top and jogging bottoms as the cloak and crown will cover up most of it anyway.

I've done a king outfit for DS1. It's a sparkly cloak, crown from gold card and tinsel, a fancy waistcoat he had for my sister's wedding (really too small, but will have to do) and dark trousers, with some sparkly braid tacked down the outside seams (so I can remove it earily afterwards)

waistcoats (borrowed or made) sound good - as does anything velvet.

I think expecting you to produce even 'extras' is a bit much, actually - I went to DS's school Christmas concert today - only the nursery dress up, and the school provide the costumes. This year's crop of boys are particularly tiny so the kings were shuffling somewhat in very long trousers, but they looked no less sweet for that. I know from the mother of an angel that parents were not asked to provide anything by way of costume.
