I'm very pleased with myself for booking my delivery slot for Dec 22nd with ASDA. Will still have to sort out a turkey but at least the rest f it will be coming.

oh AGES ago, 23rd.

IllegallyBrunette · 02/12/2008 10:57

22nd here too

Lauriefairycake · 02/12/2008 10:59

about 3 weeks ago - Waitrose coming on the 22nd

ordered turkey separately yesterday - coming on 23rd

CharleeInPantoPaperChains · 02/12/2008 10:59

Yes Sainsbos here on the 23rd after bloody Tesco being gits and completley canceling my order!

LaDiDaDi · 02/12/2008 11:03

Where did you all order your turkey from?

Last year I made a mad dash to Sainsbury and bought one to feed 15 despite there only being 6 adults and a toddler who would actualy eat it. I must sort this out this week!

Ocado on the 22nd (wasn't impressed with the £10 delivery charge but it beats fighting the hordes at Tesco)

CharleeInPantoPaperChains · 02/12/2008 11:08

I have done Tesco on Xmas eve the last 2 years and never again!!!!!!!

People get violent and savage like the world is about to end, but saying that people do it at our local Tescos for a bank holiday let alone a big holiday!

bellaBuonNatalevita · 02/12/2008 11:11

Yes - me too, Tesco 23rd

Lizzylou · 02/12/2008 11:15

I haven't bothered, I didn't last year.
We will order our Turkey/Capon from butchers and I will just go to Tescos for the rest at about 11pm on 22nd/23rd.
We have 3 Tescos within a 10mile radius so it's usually OK!

BellaKissedSanta · 02/12/2008 11:19

Yes indeed.

Groceries coming on 23rd - leaves me Christmas eve to get anything they haven't got!

bozza · 02/12/2008 11:42

If you go with Asda you can't book AGES ago, because the slots for the 23rd have only become available today. I have booked 6-8 on the 23rd today which is my preference so I am quite satisfied.

CountessDracula · 02/12/2008 11:43

They release different slots at different times in different areas so some people could have booked ages ago

sunnygirl1412 · 02/12/2008 11:50

I've booked mine for the 23rd - but I've had to explain, very very slowly to dh that this doesn't mean that we are guaranteed to receive everything on the list - ie. if they run out of sprouts, we won't get sprouts.

He wants me to email Tescos and ask them what they intend to do, to ensure that we receive all the items on our list, and what they will do to ensure this.

If I sent this email, then I think that when they'd stopped wetting themselves with laughter, I wouldn't get the response that my dh is looking for - presumeably that they'd scour the length and breadth of the country for my missing items and then have them specially couriered to me in time for Christmas day!!!! For a man who's been in management for as many years as we've been married, he can be delightfully naive at times - lolol!

PuppyMonkey · 02/12/2008 11:57

Nah, I wouldn't trust them to deliver everything at all.

You all simply MUST go to the supermarket on Dec 23 at 6am and queue for ages and get in an argument with an old lady about pickeld onions and not be able to fit everything in the trolley and see loads of things on the shelves that you don't really need to fully enjoy the festive experience...

ABloke · 02/12/2008 11:59

Oh cool how nice of you to remind me.

Do M&S deliver?

bellaBuonNatalevita · 02/12/2008 12:00

M&S don't deliver, but you can put an order in and then just go and collect it.

SoupDragon · 02/12/2008 12:01

No, I'm feeling smug because I don't need one.

ABloke · 02/12/2008 12:02

Oh good. I am only ordering the essentials from M&S i.e turkey pre-prepared so nothing can go wrong, pre-cooked tatters etc....I will go to Tesco for bits and pieces.

bellaBuonNatalevita · 02/12/2008 12:05

last order 12th December

judgenutmeg · 02/12/2008 12:12

I had to sit on the naughty step for a long time the last time we discussed this.

I do now have a slot with Tesco.

bozza · 02/12/2008 12:15

I thought Asda just did the 3 weeks ahead thing, and it is now 3 weeks until the 23rd? I know that some Tesco/Ocado slots have been available longer. LOL at sunnygirl emailing tescos. We are not at home on Christmas Day and I get a veg box anyway, so no sprout worries. But I generally end up hosting Boxing Day, so will have to plan a menu for that.

ABloke · 02/12/2008 12:17

Oh we get a veg box too. I love them. weekly. it's definitely soup weather. anyway...as you were.

bellaBuonNatalevita · 02/12/2008 12:17

You did me a favour though judge - 'cos I kept my slot - no phonecall

MadameCastafiore · 02/12/2008 12:23

Oooohhh yes done ages ago and order for meat etc already in at M&S.

WingsofaTreefairy · 02/12/2008 12:24

I've booked Asda for the 23rd.
Did have Tesco but
