i always do the tree but for some reason my new lights seem to be on a long loop.(in other words, not a single wire if you know what i mean?!).I have a fairly tall tree and usually have to put a couple of sets on it.How can i put these lights on without getting tangled up? (I usually just go round and round the tree but can't double up and do this cos it would just look stupid..)

I have lights like this. Just put them on as normal( round and round in a spiral starting at the bottom) then seperate one strand and put those lights further into the tree on the same branch. This looks better than just having the lights at the tip of the branches.

oh,,,normally i start from the top....will it make a difference?

Find the middle of the loop and fix that light near the top. Then separate the two strands and take one round one side of the tree in a zigzag working down and do the same with the other strand round the far side.
Clear as mud!(not)

See I usually plug them in first and start from the bottom that way you know that the plug will be at the correct side nearest the socket.
