I threatened to cancel the xmas play does that count? I think DH may have threatened to cancel xmas the same day (she was very naughty)

It was friday night this happened so not even December

DS had 7th birthday yesterday so has double excitement to contend with! He only just managed to get his birthday party, so Christmas is well and truly under threat. He no longer beleives that the street light outside our house is a secret spying device used by Santa - that worked quite well for a couple of years

I'm tired of telling him that Father Christmas won't be bringing his Eve (Wall-e) or Policecar. His eyes welled up and he started sobbing...but, he's been a little bugger at Kindergarten and I'm tired of them complaining about him!

I've just read through my post and have realised he punishing him is actually about ME. Oh dear...time to kiss and make up, I think.

No, its mean. And you are undermining yourself when it is not cancelled. I never threaten anything that will never happen.

December? I do this all year round!
More a gentle reminder that Father Christmas only brings presents to good boys though, rather than a threat to cancel completely.

thequietone · 02/12/2008 09:26

OK, my OP title was a tad exagerrated. I've had to explain that Father Christmas only brings the two toys he is SO excited about if he is a good boy.

Little kids can be a paoin trying to control their excitment for so long (shops and tv run up doesnt help!)

Can you get them involved in some pre christmas activities (one or two a week until christmas) make decorations ,collect things, help a neighbour etc

ignore the bad behaviour and distract with control activities (you can tell we are getting a dog cant you!)
