Balls.
Have just taken ds to school in tears. We realised this morning that we hadn't got the calendar out. I went in the under stairs cupboard and the box was gone. Cue much hystrionics...
Bloody MIL...

What could i do instead? Have searched websites for another one but the only ones I can find today are knights/princess ones (we only like proper christmassy ones with father christmas in) or Santa ones for extortionate prices. Help please...

Call the charity shop and ask them?

This happened to us with a bag full of shoes. Dh had taken the wrong bag! Got them all back bar one pair that had been sold.

Otherwise, could you just put up with a rubbish one and perhaps get a nice one for next year in the sales.

Your MIL was prob only trying to help?!!

iheartdusty · 01/12/2008 09:24

can you improvise for this year then get a Playmobil one next spring when prices may go down again?

maybe a little box-style one with treats/distractions inside?

or ask MIL to provide one as an early Christmas present ?

itsbeenashock · 01/12/2008 09:30

this any good?

AttillaTheHan · 01/12/2008 09:30

Good ideas. MIL took stuff to charityy shop in the summer when I had just had dd. I don't think she could afford to buy one herslef at the mo but tbh I haven't actually told her yet...

I think I will improvise. We've got the odd small playmobil character etc that I could use and maybe mingle in the odd chocolate..

Its not the same though is it? i can't believe the mad prices for them at the moment...One was on ebay for £255.00 before postage

ta herbietea I might just have to bite the bullet and get that one. Its worth the price for the pleasure it gives ds...

Hooray- DH has just found one in a local toy shop for a tenner!

BlueCowNowIsLowing · 01/12/2008 13:17

you've just jolted me into action to get ours out of the garage. Can't stand the thing, but the dc love it. And in ours, it's Father Christmas who arrives on 24th in the stable with all the animals and an angel - [confused, mixed up stories icon!]

AttillaTheSaHanTa · 01/12/2008 13:33

TBH it drives me mad because by the 23rd Dec all the toys are scattered all over the bloody house and its a mammoth job to find them all again before it gets put away, but ds loves it...
