We have tickets to Santa at Harrods on the 23rd, thought we would go to this after. Will keep watching to see if people have been before and what they thought.

Am thinking of going will post so that I remember to come back ot it and see what people thought!

oh lovely, I thought ds would absolutely love it. We went on a Merrygoround at the Regents street festival and he was yelling with joy the whole way round, so I think he'll love the rides. He's already excited by the pathetic lights wrapped around lamposts that stand for Christmas lights where we are, so he'll love the lights too. DH and I went to Vienna the week before Christmas the first year we were married and it was magical, he's always talking about going back somewhere that has a traditional Kriskindlemarkt, so this might be a nice compromise as we can't afford Vienna again right now.

We went last year and had a really lovely evening. We're planning to go again soon and I'm really looking forward to it as DS3 will be old enough to enjoy it too this time.

We went last year, it was lovely. Big queues for the sausages n' sauerkraut stalls!

A good mix of fairground rides for all ages - our entire family on DH's side went, we did the ice-skating first (well, we wimped out using DD as an excuse as she was only 2) then went to the funfair/market - we ranged in age from 2-69 and there was something for everyone, even the teenagers had fun (the haunted house ride was identical to the ones they have in the Prater, complete with anamatronic 'spooky guy' enticing the crowds in and spitting at them (DD was terrified of him but it was quite easy to keep her away, all the teenagers (between 12-16) went on it and came off quite shaken!)!

We're going again this year, I thoroughly recommend it (but take lots of spending money, it's not cheap!)

One thing we did and will hopefully do again this year was to prebook a table for a late lunch at Pizza on the Park (about 5 mins from the Winter Wonderland) - very child-friendly and nice food (although confirm your booking - they claimed we hadn't booked when we got there - like we'd just turn up and lie about booking a table for 17 of us! - and had to get the manager involved to sort it out, but once it was sorted it was lovely).

oh thanks for that lovecat and amandoh, I was worried it might be a bit limited for a 14 month old, but I think we'll enjoy it just as much I'm trying to persuade my friend out with her 9 month old as she's had a very rough time of late. Might be just the thing to cheer her up.

littleboyblue · 29/11/2008 23:10

Will do, if we go. It's down to dp to pull his finger out and take us!!
I'm 30wks preg and not going with ds on my own!

HeadFairy · 29/11/2008 23:14

Oh well, in that case I hope he does. You need someone to carry all the shopping and queue for a nice hot sausage for you (oooer!)

We went last year but I thought it was dreadful. However, other people seem to think otherwise. I won't be going back.

twinsetandpearls · 29/11/2008 23:46

Why did you not enjoy it scifinerd

mumchie · 01/12/2008 13:36

I was thinking of going this year but recently heard from a friend that it was really naff and tacky, with a tiny row a rubbish stalls and really expensive rides. He's kind of put me off now but the dc still might like it...still not sure tho, it's alot of money if it's rubbish.
